We are new to Dubai and charged ahead and signed up for elife with etisalat thinking it would be much the same as our cable company in Aust, oh how wrong we were - first of all here is a delay with the audio and video, next of all there is a delay with selecting and changing channels and I can't work out how to watch something after it has started recording (which is actually the least of my problems) and finally tonight for about the third night this month, it's just not working at all. I have rebooted it 5 times, the thing has been rebooted about 50 times in the last month, is this normal ? I get blank looks from staff, and someone is supposed to come around to take a look, but it's all such a pain-Internet seems to work ok, but I need my tv. Sitting down with my red wine at the ready to watch a well deserved hour of trashy tv at night is really the least i deserve, wait for me Bree and Gabby!

Ugh, me too! Been 2 months and had no end of problems with it. Told no SHowbox via Etisalat for OSN, only PVR box. Box frequently loses the time, goes to Saudi time, misses start/end of shows, no series link, volume varies wildly between channels, then last week all the tv guide slot times disappeared so I cannot even record anything unless I am physically sitting there. Tech came to look at it & they told me the box was not communicating to receive updates & now he'd put in the setting manually it should update in a day or two. We shall see! Also overheard him o nthe phone saying that I was the thirs place he'd seen that day with same problem.... (FYI, fibre optic connection on SZR) Thinking of canning it, 250 a month for useless box with mostly repetitive shows as all the new ones seem to be on at the same time! Also, I am hardly in Dubai so not being able to record shows kind of renders it pointless! OSN cannot fit to my building, only via Etisalat.... GRRRRR

Still no tv, even in central Africa 15 years ago I had better service than this...... We are in safa 1 which is an established area, so i think it's luck of the draw. Maybe living here will wean me off my trashy tv fix. Trying to download free shows on he computer has given me a virus to boot!

My experience with elife is terrible and still on going. Sandy dog did warn before I subscribed but I never imagined it could be this bad! In nearly 3 months I've had 7 set-top boxes replaced (we have 2 television points). The lip-sync is out, there is a delay between the picture and audio, the remote control functions are delayed and often get stuck, on one of our remote controls there is no pause button, when you press play the box turns off and needs to reboot. With the upstairs box the screen-shot of another channel is stuck pasted over the channel we're watching. The downstairs box needs to be rebooted about 3 times a day in about 2 hours. We still can only record around 50% of the programs we set it to record. There is no option to record a series. You can imagine how many technicians have been around in the last 3 months and how much down time we've had in between all the set-top boxes being replaced. Also, not a single technician had been informed of the elife home plug product, which we ordered upon application for elife so of course they were never delivered and I had to go into etisalat myself to buy them but none of the technicians could install them. The list goes on. I would never recommend this product to anyone. We previously had Du and their set-top boxes are far superior with reliability, speed, functions/options and user-friendliness. edited by gemm3210 on 24/11/2011

Not sure Umm Suqeim is a new area but we have massive probs with elife, so bad in fact I cant remember the last time we used the etislat tv. Bring back du I say. even the etislat engineers who were here the other day changing the box (because it didnt work) say the technology is out of date and behind du. They also said in their own countries India and the Phillipines both had better products than the etisalat tv box!

Sorry to agree Tacobelle, but I have been through everything you have mentioned, even last night I had to reboot - ie. pull plug out, as a tv channel small preview screen got stuck on the screen, no matter what option you are on! Live TV, PVR, channel listing.

and to think that they call me every 2 weeks trying to persuade me to take elife. They claim it is a very fast service and customers are very happy. Other times they say "Al Shamil will be cancelled soon". When we tried to shift the location for Al Shamil, we saw some customers denied their requests, they were told they would have to take elife .

Tacobelle - it doesn't get any better! I'm in old Dubai - problems from the start with elife and never improved. Gave up eventually and went back to OSN.

We never had problems with eLife. I think its just the newer areas in Dubai that still has eLife difficulties?

Yep, situation totally normal, sad to say. I have 3 TV connections in my house but it's only the one with the PVR where the audio and video are waaaay out of sync.
