Hi there, we are a British/South African family that arrived yesterday with our 18 month and 4 year old sons, and we are temporarily staying at the Golden Sands 10 in Mankhool. My husband will be working at the Dubai Mall area.
I was wondering if anyone knew of anything to do with children in this area, as it looks pretty built up and no sign of parks nearby or anything.
Also are there are any recommendations of where we should look to be staying where there are more facilities for children on foot, but still in good proximity to the metro and shops?
Thank you so much!
Yvette

Have you walked across the road to the Khaleej centre? you may find something there. Zabeel park will be too far now it is hot.

Thanks so much everyone, really appreciate all the advice for our stay at the Golden Sands 10. Going to make the most of it here, but looking forward to moving on soon to a place that has more facilites and parks etc for the kids nearby, but nearby the metro for my hubby to get to work easily. Look forward to getting to know you all better eventually! Rgds Yvette

Creek Park and Zabeel Park are not far from you. It's only a short taxi ride to those parks, especially Creek Park is lovely. There's also Children's City inside of it which is some kind of educational centre and perfect for a 4-year-old. If you want to go to beach, I recommend Al Mamzar Beach Park, again not far from you. You can take taxi or bus to go there. The park is really lovely with nice beaches and all facilities. Jumeirah Open Beach is great too but not so much facilities and no greenery areas there. Jumeirah Beach Park is similar to Al Mamzar but only smaller one.

welcome to dubai reqitime :) i live in the same area.there are no parks here for children to play. as OP said there is zabeel park nearby(but nt so near) with small kids. you can take them to jumeirah open beach too which is 5-10 min drive from this area.(cab). by metro you can get down at business bay station, take a cab from there, cost 10 AED, reach safa park. there is a train inside park for kids and adults.might enjoy that.

You can also take the No 10 bus from opposite Burjuman and head towards the Creek-buses are very cheap and you won't pay for the children. No playgrounds as such but plenty of grass to run around on, boats to look at and even a camel and falcon just before the mosque! The museum is cheap to visit if you want to get out of the sun. It isn't a massive walk if the bus is too hard and there are some shaded walkways along the creek plus paved paths for your pram. There is a childrens play area upstairs in Burjuman too-no idea how much it costs as my children are all grown up. Oh-and welcome to Dubai!

If all the golden sands are in the same place, thats where we stayed when we first arrived. Sort of Bur Dubai? or am I completely wrong? There is Zabeel Park which is possible to get to on foot, if you have a stroller for the little one and don't mind walking! Lamcy Plaza has a very cool indoor play area. Have you a wee map? Or the Dubai Explorer book? You should be near the Spinneys if I have my area right and you can pick these up there. Sounds like you don't plan on driving? The greens might be worth a look as somewhere more permenent to live, or Old Town. hth
