Florida Girl, been there done that.....yes, the company is going to play dirty when they suggest on your DH to write a lower figure in the visa, so when things go bad, they don't pay your DH his end of service benefits.....
is this the Executive Jet company or the Empiral that had emerged from the Elite one? is this the one you are talking about? if you get my words?

DH says he signed one with the previous company (who the visa was transferred from) but never signed one with the new company. He only signed a contract with the new company on company letterhead.
Can they file something like that without his signature? DH is saying that's he's never signed anything written in Arabic.
Apologies. The one lodged with the Ministry of Labor has a column in English then one in Arabic
This will also state his salary. This is the one they would use for gratuity purposes
I personally would not let them amend either contracts as you would not have a leg to stand on
Thank you so much. I've included a lot of these points into the email I'm helping DH draft. It's just hard to be forceful without sounding like he's causing trouble.
The other thing to keep in mind is that the labour contract is used for multiple things, such as buying a house, car, bank loans, sponsoring a maid, etc and there are some things you can only do if your contract is above a certain amounts.
The contract that is usually lodged with the Ministry of Labor is a single A4 piece of paper which is in Arabic
If this has the lower salary logged on it then that is the legal figure they would use for gratuity purposes.
I would try and obtain a copy of that and get it translated.
I would not allow them to register your DH on a lower salary. AmyAus is right that there is usally a 2nd contract but in the case of a work dispute which ends up in the courts, it's the Labor contract that is used as reference and that is where they are trying to register a lower salary ( i'm guessing). I would refuse and see what other options they then give your Husband.
Does it change things when I say he's a pilot with a private/corporate management company? I don't see how a certain degree would change why they would want to register a lower salary, but I do see what you're saying. I just don't know if that really applies here.
He has been working here for a year and already has a contract that he was given at the start of his employment but I don't know if that is enough protection, especially since I don't know if has been registered anywhere.
Ok, so DH works in the DAFZ, with a current DAFZ visa (which was just transferred from another DAFZ company), but the contract is a UK contract (it's a UK based company) and not registered with the free zone. How would we know if his contract is registered with the labor department?
His company is known for cutting corners and taking the cheapest option available so I'm very worried that they're tryign to do this.
I am sure there are HR people who will know better than me but I would certainly be concerned that they would try to underpay his gratuity when the time comes - why else would they need to register him on a low salary? And I assume that if your husband's contract which is registered with the labour department states this low salary then he wouldn't have a leg to stand on if he tried to report them for it.
I posted this about DH's employer switching us from Dubai visas to Sharjah visas:
http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=169785
Now they are saying they're registering the lowest salary required to obtain a visa instead of DH's true salary. Is this legal? Will this affect end of service gratuities?
This company is so shady so I don't put anything past them. :(
