Why don't my kids ever want their father to put them to sleep? Why does it always have to be me? And if I insist that he put them to sleep, I have to convince DH to carry them upstairs (while soothing his feelings about his kids' not wanting him) and listen to my kids carry on and scream "Mommmmmmmmmy" all the way to bed. He reads them a book, same as me!

Daddy is great when he is going to take them swimming or to play soccer at the park, but at bedtime, only me. Should I just resign myself to doing it every night?

It's pretty much the same in our house! If I insist that Daddy does it then invariably it results in late bedtimes and tears anyway but I like to persevere! I think you should too - I can't imagine finding the energy to put 4 to bed after a long day!? One of these days it'll pay off.....:)

It's the other way round in our house. Daddy puts our LO to bed every night, brushing her teeth and reading her a story. In fact, although I spend all day looking after her, as soon as daddy comes through the door, poor old mummy is persona non grata...! At 2.5 she is already a real daddy's girl. made me smile CM...same here... I have 3, one of them is like that.. but when he does, dady goes to sleep before he makes them sleep lol...

Why not be unavailable? Go for a walk, nip out to the shops etc. It might be traumatic for all concerned for a short while, but if you persevere I am sure things will change for the better. Much better get it sorted now rather than when an emergency presents itself ( heaven forbid ) if you unexpectedly are not available.

I have the same problem! DS screams if daddy puts him to sleep it has to be me. I think he sees his daddy as a person to play with not someone to relax with... Hope it might change in the future (DS only 15 months old) How old are yours? Maybe you need to tell them in advance that daddy is going to read them a bedtime story tonight.
