Hi Ladies. I have looked through the threads on here about bead shops and found some older ones about Naif Souk. Has anyone been here in the past year who can tell me if these stores are still open here...and how to get there? I followed some directions from 2009 yesterday, but they lead me nowhere! Also, does anyone know if this souk will be open this afternoon or tomorrow (with it being Eid)?

I have been to Fida in Satwa, but they don't have what I'm looking for (and their prices seem to keep going up)! I also am going to try the Crystal House that people have posted about...anyone know if they are open today?

Thanks!!

Hi SA Babe. Fida has these. They also have what looks like a soldering iron for applying single rhinestones. Cheers

Hi Crystalsindubai I am looking for iron on rhinestones - do you know where i can get these? thanks in advance Hi Ladies. I also am going to try the Crystal House that people have posted about...anyone know if they are open today? Thanks!! Nowadays, I use the Metro to visit the Gold Souk (the red line to Khalid Bin Waleed, the change to green line; exit at the station before Palm Deira; from there it is walking distance to the multi-level Gold Souk Bldg. Using this entrance to the gold souk, walk to the T-junction (approx 300 m), turn left, walk approx 300-400 m across a r/a intersection. You should then be in the habedashery wholesale market. I would guess that the market will be closed the first day of Eid, but should be open the following days by 5 pm. Perhaps if you could let me know what kind of beads, accessories you are looking for, I could possibly give you further advise.

I would typically visit this souk in the evening - I do know it's open up to 10 pm.

I am so excited to hear about this souk, I had no idea it existed! Can't wait to head out there with a mate once Eid is over. Does anyone know what the normal opening hours would be? Would it be open from, say, 10am - 12.30pm which is about how much time we would have before we have to leave to collect kids. TIA

Those directions are very clear. i've never been to the Naif souk but have been intending to go for ages. Is the selection and price better than at Dragonmart? I like Crystal House as everything is well packaged and presented with product codes and price on each pack but it does not have a great selection of beads. I've looked on googlemaps and here is the link for one of the streets Anna mentioned in her blog. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=25.272718,55.304532&hl=en&ll=25.273689,55.304704&spn=0.014669,0.030427&num=1&vpsrc=6&gl=uk&t=m&z=15 you can zoom in and the Naif Souq is labelled.

I did a blog post a while ago about the "haberdashery souk' in Deira. It includes a map and directions to get there. Have a look here: http://sonenskadu.blogspot.com/2011/04/haberdashery-souk-2.html

I'll give it a whirl - this is the best way I know how. Go to Dierra and the Al Gharer Mall at the end of Rigga Road. It's on a corner. Turn right at that corner with Gharar Mall on your right side. Go straight up to and thru the Fish R/A. Continue straight til you come to a lighted intersection. Turn left at this intersection. You are now sort of entering the Naif area. On both your right and left will be all sorts of small shops mostly furniture upholstry, drapery, etc. Eventually you will come to major light intersection. Go thru the intersection and the first street on your left -- take a left hand turn. I think a Mosque or Police Station will around there. Anyway, once you make the left your will be going towards the old souk. You should run right into the old souk. There is mostly only on street parking (which is difficult to find), however, if you can make your way to the Al Manal Mall which is straight ahead, they have underground parking for money. I hope this helps in any way. I have not been there for a couple of years.
