Hello ladies,

Due to paperwork issues I will be forced to stay in the UAE for the entirety of the Eid (was planning on a trip to Sri Lanka or Oman - now not happening).

I am in need of a nature-y getaway for at least a few days, (the hotel at Sir Bani Yas Island is completely booked so not possible although that would have been perfect) someplace with a nice hotel, great surroundings, calm & peaceful. Please let me know if you have any experience or have heard of a nice, out of the way place like this!

Also looking for daytrips to do around the UAE with a similar feel...Not keen on super touristy things such as the desert safari or Atlantis dolphins although I will probably take a day to visit the Al Ain Zoo. Please let me know if you have some other day trips like this you recommend!

Thanks... just want to have some solid plans, something to look forward to for the Eid!

Maaam- wow you must be a kindred spirit! I had my heart set on a Musandam trip and I also already know that I want a daytrip to the Al Ain Zoo. The problem with Musandam is that I can't leave the UAE, so that got canceled =( So now, the only thing I have planned is the Al Ain Zoo trip. Definitely will look into your other suggestions! Liwa looks beautiful and Hatta looks nice as well, will give the other suggestions a think =) Thanks ladies!

You won't get nicer than Mussandam for wild dolphins jumping around your dhow, superb stunning scenery, beautiful weather - lots of the touring companies will do a day trip picking you up in the morning and dropping you off at night. Though, not sure what paperwork issues you have, you would need your passport as it's Oman not UAE Al Ain Wildlife park is lovely (will be busy though!) Just a drive out in to the desert to see camels/sanddunes, pack a picnic and enjoy the peace. East Coast/Dibba/Fujeirah/Hatta for mountains and scenery! edited by Maaam on 01/11/2011

If Sir Bani Yas is full, try Qasr Al Sarab - nothing around but beautiful towering desert dunes and a valley in front of the hotel.
