Hope it lasts longer than the Tefal Actifry. I bought a Actifry about 10 months ago and it made great homemade chips without the frying smell. About a month after I bought it I read some reviews that the actifry burnt out after some people had it about a year. I thought pahh its working great so be fine. A few weeks ago the motor burnt out. Looked out the receipt as that was the guarantee and the receipt had faded so couldn't make out what was on it.:\: I have one for more than 5 years and it's still perfect. Lucky you. I so want another one but wary incase another burns out. I bought it in France. Maybe, the actifry sold here are not made in the same place than mine, that's why they don't last. That would figure the electricals don't last long here.

They are 899 on sale at the moment and you get a free kettle with them. I'm very tempted to get one but want to know : does food actually taste any different? and has anyone cooked anything else in them besides chips/fries? Tx.

How long does it take to cook a kilo of chips? Is clean up easy? How much are they? Information from the user guide: Minimum quantity 300g Maximum quantity 800g Home made chips 12 to 18 minutes Home made wedges 18 to 22 minutes Thin frozen fries 9 to 16 minutes Thick frozen fries 11 to 20 minutes Other items which can be cooked in it are meat and poultry, snacks (spring rolls, frozen fish fingers, chicken nuggets). They also give recipes for cakes, muffins and quiches. It's very easy to clean because there is a removable basket. I can't remember the price but I think it was about 1000 Dhs Thick frozen fries 11 to 20 minutes edited by Yorky on 15/07/2011 edited by Yorky on 15/07/2011

No I haven't used the Tefal one but when I bought the air fryer from Sharaf DG they had both so I checked what the difference was. Previously to make healthier chips I would par boil some potatoes then spray with fry light and bake in the oven. They were nice but took quite a while to cook but with the air fryer there is no need to par boil so I just spray with fry lite and 20 minutes later they are cooked to perfection.

Yes, well worth the money in my opinion. Just made some chips in mine and they were lovely :) seriously just a teaspoon of oil?? Wondering which is better this one or that tefal actifry? You use a teaspoon of oil in the Tefal one but with the air fryer you can just spray the chips with fry lite so you probably use less oil. If you use frozen chips you don't have to use any oil, just put them straight in. You can use it to cook quite a few different things and they give you a cook book with ideas in.
