MG might have expressed herself a little more tactfully in the circs of the OP's post. but she is quite correct. But the OP should take heart from that, all cancers are potentially deadly but the ones that manifest themselves outwardly or with early stage symptoms have a very good survival rate today. Very best wishes FairyDust. No she didn't need to express anything else but best wishes for OP and not argue on which cancer is the most dangerous as that is not on when talking to someone who was diagnosed.

Can I ask what mole mapping is and what it involves? I have several moles that I had checked out years ago when I was a child as my parents were concerned about them. Luckily I was fine. I had a friend die from a malignant melanoma just before I moved here so I am very wary of my moles and this is something I would be keen to get done. OP, hope yours is ok now :-)

I recently had a scare and got a full mole mapping done. I had one mole removed. I just got word today it wasn't malignant, thank God. I used Blue Tree Clinic on Beach Road. It's opposite jumeira beach hotel. Dr Julianne Reuter. She was excellent and very thorough. Highly recommended. Sorry to hear that it was skin cancer but really glad you got it in time x

Skin cancer is the most severe and aggressive form of cancer there is, and if not caught early the prognosis can be difficult Sorry to hear about your issues, but the above statement is absolutely not correct. Skin cancer can indeed be serious but overall survival rates are *much* higher than most other cancers. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most severe and aggressive cancers, and it's notorious for being largely symptom-free until it's spread so far that it's untreatable and terminal. Sadly, the majority of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer will only have a matter of months to live. edited by Madge_Gustard on 06/09/2014 Do you realize that you just told someone that has been diagnosed with skin cancer, that her skin cancer is not so bad and that other forms of cancer are much worse? I don't see what you expect to achieve with this other than insulting FD?

Way to go, to make a serious and educational post trivial! Fact is most cancers are serious and life threatening if not caught early on. Fact is, many skins cancers can also show no symptoms - mine certainly didn't and it was only because I go every year and the one that was malignant hadn't changed in years and looked as it had always done. Too many are diagnosed too late. Excuse me for relaying what ALL my docs have reiterated to me. Excuse me, for feeling brave and wanting to share and encourage other people to go and get checked. Wish I hadn't bothered. Rosie - Dermacare 04 3420088. edited by FairyDust on 06/09/2014 I agree with you Fairy, quite disrespectful to minimize and trivialize someone else's illness that is very very serious. But that's EW for you, there always needs to be someone who knows better and everyone needs to know it. I am relieved for you that it was detected early and you can get the treatments you need to get better. And thank you for the warning, I have loads of molds/freckles and maybe I should get a mapping myself. Wish you all the best xxx

Hi FD! I am glad that you bothered to post. These are timely reminders and I for one think that they are very important. It's a good thing that you were going every year for check-ups. Otherwise, you might not have known!

I initially went to the dermatologist at the GMC on Beach rd. I get my moles checked every year. There were a couple he decided he didn't like and took them off for biopsy. When it came back as malignant, he referred me over to Dermacare Skin centre on Al Wasl. The Dr there does not mess about. He's very thorough and they do all the mole mapping there as well. Not good when you see someone who is dismissive - you cannot mess about with this. If in doubt, take it off and biopsy it. Thank you for info, will go there. I was quite shocked with the attitude of the doctor I saw, his advice was to use moisteriser on the mole bothering me! Hi, I really need my moles checked specially how we exposed to the sun so much here. Is this the one in jumeira 1, villa 306? If you have the number, could you kindly post it, there so many skin places on al wasl. thank you

Thanks for the reminder! I am glad to hear that you are ok, FD. My mother has just gone through the same thing and fortunately, because of early detection, she is ok...

Glad it was caught early FairyDust. Would you mind sharing the name of your doctor please? I recently went to see a dermatologist about a mole and he was very dismissive. Would be good to see a doctor who takes such things seriously.
