Morning all, was going to pop for a night to Emirates palace but have found out that the pool is under maintenance, so looking for an alternative. How much hotter will it be out in the desert at Liwa? Not been before, have got 2 little ones but theyre happy as long as theyre in a pool. Obvioiusly live here so pretty used to the heat. Also, does anyone have any other alternatives? Normally go to Al Qasr for nights away but fancied somewhere different (now that Bab el shams is no longer Jumeirah and cant use my sirius points!)
Appreciate any advice!!
TIA

The drive from Dubai is between 2.5 and 3 hrs. I enjoyed the drive. I like the desert scenery and with good music any drive is good. The kids kept themselves busy with ipods etc.

We went for just one night. Long drive down but on the way back we stopped at the Liwa Car Museum to break the journey (we had our 5 month old DS with us). The Resort is lovely, we had a nice 1 bedroom with own garden. Lovely furniture in the room but they cram so much in there it was a bit hard to move!

We live in Abu Dhabi and it took us nearly 2 hours, it is a very boring, single lane road. We went for 1 night, but said we would only go again if it was for 2 nights. The hotel is out of this world, the best we have stayed in, we also usually book Al Qasr. The rooms are lovely, we got upgraded to a suite with its own garden etc, I was trying to convince DH to let us live here lol, until he reminded me of the commute time to work :-(. The pool area is perfect and was very quiet when we were there (4 weeks ago). edited by Pootle Flump on 04/08/2011 edited by Pootle Flump on 04/08/2011

Thanks Ansie, was only going to go for 1 night but have just realised how far away it is! Do you think its worth the drive for 1 night? and how is the drive? We're on the palm, so already on the edge of Dubai, normally takes me 50 mins to get to AD airport, any idea how much further from there? thanks for the help!

We booked de luxe rooms but were upgraded to single suites :-) We also went with the kids and had dinner at the buffet, which was wonderful. The seafood/sushi station was delish! There are a couple of restaurants but we didn't try it. Maybe next time... I would say, wait till you get there, have a look at the setting and menu and then book a table.

OO thanks Ansie, Im excited now, going to book it! Which room did you stay in? Prices are really good as its summer, also, where should we go for dinner? Wedding anniversary (i know, we're taking the kids!!) so something special would be nice, although sounds like the whole thing will be great!

We were there about 3 weeks ago. It is one of the most beautiful places I've been to in the UAE! It is no more hot than being in AD or Dubai. The hotel is gorgeous and staff and service is excellent. Enjoy! If you get up early in the morning you can go for a walk/hike before breakfast - it not too hot then. The rest of the day can be spent next to and in the pool. It has a beautiful view.
