I am really confused and would like any advice that you can share. We are considering three schools for my daughter for September 2013; GEMS Wellington International, Raffles International and Regent International. We have already been offered a place for FS1 at Raffles International School (South Campus). She has also done an assessment for FS2 at Regent International School and we are awaiting the results. We have had no response from Wellington International and I have been trying for a while to contact their admissions department, but all I get is full voicemail boxes.
Do you have kids at any of these schools? What are your experiences? Should my daughter be offered a place at Regent, which school (between Regent and Raffles) would be a better choice? Also, do we wait for Wellington to get back to us before accepting places elsewhere?
Wrt Regent Campus, it does seem small compared to the other schools, but my main concern is the construction site adjacent to the school. Does anyone know what is being built next to the school and how long the project will be. I am very worried about the level of pollution directly next to the outdoor play area, and I am assuming some of it would get into the school too.
As you can see we are really confused and would appreciate any advice that you can share.

Hi desperatemom77 and SafferDXB, I agree with linda.evans - Regent is a great school! I understand the construction next door will be completed mid-2014. So far all the major foundations have been completed, so there is no more heavy drilling etc (this all happened during summer 2012) - so the noise isn't bad in the classrooms. It is just such a pity that the school lost one of it's sports fields because of this, but they have made up for it with their rooftop recreation areas. The classes aren't crowded - they are strict as to how many they have per class, and they have lots of buses covering most of the Dubai area - I see them on the roads every morning. SafferDXB - I take it from your name that you are from South Africa? There are lots of SA families at Regent - so you would definitely have heaps of support! Good luck - I hope everything works out! :-)

Hi SafferDxb! I think you should go for RIS based on my experience I was amaze by the progress of my kids since they transfered to Regent International school..They are very well monitored in every way possible and parents as myself are kept informed with every development.. It makes me at ease at all times. Anywy, if you have any questions regarding regent you can ask me :) Hi I registered my two children in RIS but not sure if we'll get a chance since it's late but I wanted to ask about the school. Are the classes crowded ? How is safety and health ? are there enough After schools and how is their bus service . With many thanks

Thank You Meagle and joe-ama for the responses. I have been trying to contact Admissions at Wellington since February and all I get are full voice mail boxes. It's incredibly frustrating. I don't even know if they have started doing assessments, or if they have completed their assessments already. I am worried about the noise and sand/ dust pollution at Regent, but if my daughter joins Regent she won't have to repeat FS1 again.

I'm afraid you won't get a place in Wellington as they didn't contact you. You need to be extremely lucky someone picks up the phone and tell you that you didn't get a place. They only send email if you got assesment.:( Raffles had many problems but apparently really improved.

Does anyone know what is being built next to the school and how long the project will be. Can't give advice on the schools as my son is a little younger, but I can tell you that they are building a new high rise for the Greens next to Regent, so the construction will be ongoing for quite awhile.
