I get this, although very rarely, and it is awful, it does tend to go away, I thought it was just my body telling me that it was really tired.
Loving the magnesium and tonic idea, when it happens again I will definitely try it out.
I had this too when I was pregnant with both my kids. I had my husband massage my legs very firm (basically using his knuckles and pressing firm up and down the back of my legs) and that really helped. Also my husband suggested eating a banana before bed for some potassium to help with the RLS. I don't have this long-term, just during pregnancies so I'm probably not much help :)
My mum has this. She does not medicate but as far as I know also uses tonic water and magnesium supplements. I remember that when we were in the States in the summer, this was one of the conditions for which they were advertising medication, so it can be done.
If you are really uncomfortable, see your doctor, there will be something he can suggest to help. Despite the weird name and description it is a genuine condition and your doc will be able to reduce the symptoms.
I started to have this problem when I was pregnant and was told to take magnesium tablets or have a glass of tonic water. The tonic water seems to help, hopeless at remembering to take tablets but always remember my tonic water (with a little bit of G now that I am not pregnant) :)

I know this is the wrong forum, but i know there is pleanty of helpful ladies who use this one alot (tried posting in health but doesn't seem to be used much) So, i think i have RLS, Haven't been to see anyone. I feel silly going 'doc my legs hurt' but im now at the stage where i'm getting very little, if any sleep due to it. I have done exercise, go for a night swim, take a warm bath before bed etc ., nothing works. Do any of you ladies suffer from it or know someone that does? What helps ease the awful pain! Sorry for the ramble but please, advice would be great. Tia
