satwa ladies, can you recommend a good salon for nails in the area? have started exploring places and it's very exciting. a recommendation would be most welcome... I go to the WOW salon in the Ramada Jumeirah for my pedicure. They have the big leather massage chairs which are lovely. It's 70 dirhams for a pedi. Don't know about mani as never had it done.

Satwa is a wonderful area to live in! I lived there for a couple years, but recently moved to AR, and miss Satwa a great deal already. My only real complaint was regarding traffic. Not so much rush-hour traffic, but on the weekends and evenings, guys would tear and screech down the street under my flat's balcony in loud cars, and that got really annoying. Also, National Day in that area is a nightmare (if you're trying to get in or out via car during the evening/night - forget it). But otherwise, I don't have enough good things to say about living in Satwa. The main reason I moved is because I wanted a yard and some grass for myself.

The only reason Ive never ventured into Satwa as a place to live in is because of the heavy traffic around that area, especially heading into Dubai after work. But thats the only negative as I love the vibe and see some nice places to stay around there too

I also love that I can buy my fruit & veg from the little shops on plant street & they last about a week longer than Spinney's. At half the price too!

I live in Jumeira 1 next to the grand mosque - i.e. within easy walking distance of Satwa. I love going down there! All the fabric shops, mixture of people it's fab! In fact I just bought a sewing machine there this morning. Lol. The only ppl who would dislike that sort of area are those who like living in an western expat bubble... they favour places like the Springs (a la Milton-Keynes) where you would never know you were in the middle east. You must live really close to me!! Really, where are you? Next door to Beach Hotel Apartments :) :)

My child goes to school in an area close by and I have often driven around trying to locate a place which could be suitable. Are there apartment complexes? Compound living? can anyone recommend an estate agent... I am ok with both apartment or villa, would save SO much time on the school run! I'm moving into a villa in satwa so your welcome to view my 2 bed. Has gym, pools, etc...Not got confirmed dates yet to move but should be at end of June how much are you paying for your 2 bed apartment?

Nothing wrong with Satwa. It's only the 'suburb snobs' that think they are too special to live or go there. They are the same people who have never even been on the other side of Maktoum bridge and rarely mix with other cultures. You dont want to blend with close minded people like that anyways. Satwa has lots of culture and the location is good too.

It pleases me that so many people in Dubai turn their noses up at Satwa because i get to live in my spaceous apartment in this beautiful area for a very reasonable price! and munch on Ravi's at least once a week for under 10 dirhams. Not anymore, if this thread goes on much longer. ;) :\: I'm watching it too :-P I forgot to mention that having rats for pets is quite common in the satwa area and not at all frowned upon!
