Morning all, my baby brother (ok he's 35) is off to Afghanistan next week for 6 months (trying not to think about it) and I wondered if anyone had any experience of sending blueys and parcels? I know that both services are free from a Royal Mail post office, but last time I checked, we dont have those here!!
Im thinking I'll have to send back to the UK first and have my parents send things over, especially for the parcels which are free delivery from UK to his BFPO address. Is there a way to get the blueys there though directly from here without having to go back to the UK?
Any help or guidance greatly appreciated,
TIA

Thanks for the replies, definitely going to utilise the ebluey service, will be perfect and he still gets to read a physical letter, rather than an email. Thankyou outspan, cymraes and louisedvs for the support also, yes its tough when they go, I end up glued to the news hoping to not hear anything bad. Louisedvs - cant believe you got JD over there! My brother has just asked for sweets so far! thanks ladies :)

can't help with the parcel but there is an ebluey system I have used lots in years gone by .. you type them on your computer and they get printed out in at the destination, brilliant service. http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/DefenceFor/ServiceCommunity/BFPO/Ebluey.htm Thoughts with you and your brother, I have a number of friends out in Afghanistan at the moment ETA I think the BFPO parcels have to go via the UK, oh and also be careful what you put in them, DH wanted some foot spray (for smelly boots!) and the aerosol got returned, got all the way to the Falklands and then back to Mill Hill in London and I had to go and remove it and send it back again! edited by cymraes on 07/05/2012 I remember when my friend was in Iraq and i sent JD in fruit shoot bottles! they got through aswell!

nspree, can't help with the bluey situation but I just wanted to let you know I feel for you. My DH was in the RAF and I hated it every time he went away - BBC News 24 became an obessession. Full of admiration for our Armed Forces.
