You cannot be polite with a taxi driver. Where they come from, a woman out alone is a loose woman......end of, oh and in their opinion your DH does not care about your welfare. I am a bit shocked. Not be polite to a taxi driver???? why because they are dirty menials from third world countries???? Yes, where they come from is different but that does not mean one should treat them badly/rudely/without respect. Maybe a few in those thousands have got the wrong impression about western women but then with all the tum tum about the western couple in the back of taxi it can be expectd from people who may not be as worldly as you. You can be firm and let him know you dont want interaction.

Hi Outspan, I would also note down theit licence number and/or taxi number or number plate and report them to the RTA (they have a dedicated complaints line) and to Al Ameen.

I should take my safety more seriously - I naively thought that during daylight hours I would be OK and I wouldn't dream of being alone in a cab at night. DH would be horrified if he thought that's what men think.

Good God! Why on earth you allow a total stranger talk with you about DH can manage things or not! if any one is talking such an inappropriate conversation like that, you should stop him by telling him off or you will get him to the police. don't get involve with men or women who are total strangers and open a topic about your s*x life. Honestly, I have been really shocked - unless some men think most western women are easy! I am just too polite and know the consequences of reporting someone to the police, supervisor, etc but I am truly fed up with it. these types of men have no decency or respect but the law, next time a creep starts this type of conversations just raise you voice in a threatening tune and ask him to repeat his question, if he repeated again tell him you recorded his questions and you have a video of him and you know his taxi number, better for him to shut his mouth and drive or you will be sending this video to your husband and husband will contact the police. I have never had this kind of experience with a cab driver. The times I've needed to use a cab, I get in, tell him where I need to go, and that's the end of the conversation. No small talk, no pleasantries, no friendly smiles. I'm not interested in hearing their story, and I'm not interested in sharing mine. If you are being forced into an uncomfortable situation, then end it. It's not difficult, unless you are more concerned with sounding polite.
