Was invited to a childrens' birthday party at a local friend's home and the mum provided Lime Tree Cafe carrot cake for the mums and cupcakes for the kids.

Not chocolate! I'd be so disappointed if chocolate was dessert instead of a REAL dessert!

If you have the time and inclination perhaps you can make chocolate brownies? I'm sure those would be a hit. :)

Why don't you bring something that Emiratis would like, such as rahash or kunafa or helwa? Or did they ask you to bring a Western dessert? edited by AnonDubai on 24/03/2011

Hello All, I've been invited for lunch on Friday by my friend who is local, its only going to be women and children and very informal and I offered to bring dessert. So lets hear some suggestions. I can not make anything myself as I don't have the time/energy/equipment etc. Im partial to chocolate profiteroles, Banoffee pie, good trifle but where would i be able to get THE BEST of these please? or any reccomendations for something yummy and who makes it best are much appreciated. TIA Sav edited by Savannah on 24/03/2011
