I tried voluteering, but with no response to my email and no call back after a couple of calls I was a bit miffed (blushes). I can't foster right now because we are not completely settled here yet, but I hope to when we are. But nonetheless I believe in what they do! Shoot me an email if you'd like to catch up. An no, it's not selfish at all, I miss my animals like crazy!

Good luck on your search, I am sure you find a perfect little girl or boy for you. You can go down to k9 and spend the day there, meeting the dogs and helping out, if that's your thing! I'm half and half, two rescue cats, two dogs bought from breeders. Are you new to Dubai? I am too, so my advice is rather limited. I loved my animals like they were family too- after all they are never grumpy with you are they? ;) edited by Evenstar on 28/05/2011

K9 will also help you choose the right breed for YOU. Just because you want a small dog [and btw agree with everything Evenstar says about so-called 'teacup' breeds'> it doesn't necessarily follow that any small breed will suit you. Some breeds just do not cope being left by themselves, and are better off with either another dog or their humans being around throughout the day. Moreover, buying a dog in Dubai is a VERY expensive business due to the huge fees charged by the Municipality for the right to sell and even then, you can't always be sure that the puppy you've bought hasn't come from some awful puppy farm [with the congenital problems that generally go with it'>. Good luck. K9 really is your best bet. Please. :) PS. Many breeds of terrier require a lot of training and can be very destructive and barky if not given appropriate care. Just so you know.

Not too much more than that I'm afraid.. I have always been a dog person, grew up with them. As for the puppy knowledge, I just wanted to make sure that you knew teacup breeders are nasty ********! I had a dog that had teeth and bone probs (loved him to bits) just because the breeder lied to me and sold him to me when he was five weeks old, not eight, as they said. Another breeder sold me a dog that had not been vaccinated, and within a week she died from parvovirus. Survived the first few days, and the docs told us if she did that she would live, but after 6 days her little heart gave out. I was devastated, and left with a 2000 dollar bill for her care. So I am a bit antsy about breeders and pet shops. Sorry if I came across as harsh. I suggested k9 because so many people dump their puppies when they aren't housetrained, or don't give them basic obedience and they bark for the first few days in their new home- due to the magnitude of the problem here, I always suggest adoption for people looking for pets advice- and many of the dogs are puppies, so if you want a young dog many are only a couple of months old. The problem here is particularly bad in summer. When the hubby and I get fully settles here I hope to become a foster parent :) HTH :D

Hi Alley, do you mean toy size? If a puppy is small enough to fit inside a teacup he is either much to young to be sold, or you will more than likely end up with a dog that has teeth, bone and other congenital problems. No major dog registry recognizes teacup as being a legitimate breed, and breeders who do sell them as such are unethical. What breed are you looking for? I happen to know k9friends dubai has some lovely puppies up for adoption right now. HTH :)
