Hi, you can email me on corrina at eim dot ae. I will be at meetings from 7am tomorrow but can reply mid morning. I know how important it is to find a trustworthy lady to look after your home and children.
Hi Cappie - i am looking
how can I contact you ?
Ladies, I was looking for a housemaid to stand in for mine while she was in Sri Lanka. I ended up with 3 lovely Sri Lankan ladies - all highly recommended by friends of mine. They speak good English, are good with children, more mature which I think it important as they are able to make sensible decisions while you are out at work. I would love to help find these ladies a job as I obviously only have 1 job to offer. Let me know if anybody is looking.
there is an ethiopian lady i recommend but is ethiopia, (phone interview and a picture) if any of you ladies are interested. she is not from an agency and is available as soon as a visa is provided.. let me know :)
you can bring a filipina nanny in through a labour supply agency. you will not be able to interview her first, but may be able to do a phone interview. she will not have her friends etc already here, so no problems with that.
she will also come with medical training. I think you can get one for about 1900 pm
Try al ahliya agency
Sure, if you want a British nanny, it is going to cost you 700 pounds per week. But if you are looking for a Filipina who will competently look after your child, you can find one for 1800 dh per month or less. But I bet the OP is interviewing Sri Lankans who are on their husband's visa. And that is her problem - she'd be better off interviewing Filipina's and providing them a visa.
What Pound currency is it referring to ?
1800 is fine for someone to look after your child. Most people I know are paying less than that.
There's currently a Nannies position in Dubai advertised on Reed Uk. Its states 12 hour shifts, own room and bathroom in the family home. The salary advertised is 700 pounds per week.
Britsh Pounds.

I am having the exact same problem. I am looking for a housemaid and have gone through the expat woman classified and every time I call someone up they have a husband or boyfriend that they want to bring home, or they want a villa not an apartment or they want Jumeirah or Umm Suqueim and not new Dubai. I am almost giving up! I have been warned about certain agencies who are not up front with their fees so am weary of them and now I am just waiting for a recommendation.
Cappie I would really appreciate a good recommendation. My email is nfjaffer at hotmail dot com. I am very keen to meet a good honest maid!

Thanks Clairehdp for the link and the advice. What's the going rate for a nanny then? and how do I find a trained nanny? All the ads I see are for nanny / maids.
It might be worth you contacting this lady - she's recommended and has a child of her own -.......

If you are looking for a nanny as opposed to a housemaid then 1800 is not much at all. Trained nannies are hard to find here and will expect a much bigger salary. Sounds to me like you are interviewing housemaids.
I've been looking for a nanny for my 2 month old son for the last 6 weeks...and its been a nightmare. I generally select candidates based on personal recommendations in the Classifieds on EW or via emails from friends who know of a family leaving and recommend their nanny. The first nanny I interviewed showed up at my house, went through the interview, was pleasant and engaging and then at the end of the interview tells me that she wants to find a a family that live in Jumeirah because that's where all her friends live. Why she didnt' tell me that when she found out my address wasn't in Jumeirah is a mystery.
Then there were a few who didn't show up at all. A couple of them never asked anything about my family or my son but were interested in how many days off they were going to get, how often I'd fly them home ect
Fed up with the whole process, I went through an agency (Nannies Dubai) and the first candidate I selected called me up and asked for an interview on the same day. I agreed and about 15 min before the scheduled time for the interview, she texts to say that she has a cough /cold and can't make it... odd since when I spoke to her 2 hours before, she was in fine form and keen to meet me...
This isn't just a moan, I wanted to know if there are other mothers out there who have had similar difficulties....
I am asking for my nanny to look after my child, no housekeeping or cleaning. She has her own room + bathroom. And we are offering a starting salary of AED 1,800 which I understand to be a good market rate.
Would be interested in any thoughts others may have...anything I should do differently??
