The big daddies of kitchen appliances are in competition so please come and cheer your favourite!

So I have been to both the demos and I could not be more confused. Though Thermomix is a bigger investment, it claims to do everything that you would ever need to do in the kitchen. The steel bowl and weighing scale is also a big attraction.

For the sake of my juices and smoothies though (biggest reason to get a better appliance), Vitamix is a clear winner. The investment is slightly lesser though definitely not what I call reasonable.

DH is tending towards Thermomix because seems like one answer to all needs so no more nagging from the wife. The question though is will it help in weight loss and healthy lifestyle or do the opposite with its excellent bread, dessert recipes?

I use the Nutribullet for smoothies, Thermomix for cooking etc and a cold pressed juicer for juicing. Love them all :-)

Remember if you buy a machine from the US - it works on 110v (it is 220v) here. You can buy a transformer but you have to be careful of the wattage. I don't know what the Vitamix wattage is but I imagine it is pretty high in order to be powerful. You may find it difficult or impossible to find a suitable transformer that won't blow the motor on the machine

I love them both and they sort of overlap in what they can do in so many things. When it comes to smoothies, especially veg smoothies, which are great for weight loss Vitamix is superior and wish I got it earlier. My DH would never drink green smoothies made in the Thermomix but now he does :-) I make smoothie for breakfast and then also a soup to take to work for lunch. I then use the Thermomix for making dinners. From what you said I would suggest to get the Vitamix first and then you will see if you need the Thermomix, you can always get it later. They are both investment worth every penny :-)

What is the UAE price of a Thermomix? I think it's 5500 dirhams.

Hi, I have never regretted my investment in the Thermomix. It means no more processed food and you know exactly what you are eating. A great website is http://www.quirkycooking.com.au/ this can give you an idea of what a healthy lifestyle you can change to with it. Hope this helps
