I have not been to Tribefit yet so cannot comment on the classes. I was really tempted to try it out as I see the classes happening every evening on my way home and they do look cool and fun. However, I just found out that 1 class is AED100. I currently go to Corefit where I pay AED50 per class so I guess I won't be joining Tribefit anytime soon unless they make their prices more competitive.

It can be a bit hit and miss with FF to be honest. I used to be a member in Mirdiff and the PT's weren't great, although the facilities were fantastic. I now go to Motor City and find that much better. No, PT should EVER make you feel bad or make rude comments - that's not their job, nor should it be their aim and I would be complaining about that! The PT I had at MC was very good. I really like the new Myzone, system FF have installed - it's a great motivator. My only gripe is they always play the music far too loud and most people are always plugged into their individual ipods and it can be really hard to zone their music out - I'm forever complaining about it. It really doesn't matter what gym you go to. To get results, you have to put in the effort.

Hey amazingdxb! I assume youre from Dubai Marina if youre looking at Tribefit and Fitnessfirst. I used to be a member at fitness first but have recently switched to tribefit. At first, it was just cause it was closer but I was blown away by the gym! The equipment was topnotch and they have 3 times the number of classes going on compared to FF! the PT’s are also spot-on! And it’s really different. Everybody knows everybody, it’s sorta like a community. Ive been a lot more motivated going to the gym lately. Maybe I’ll see u there! XO

don't worry you will see results quicker than two years!!! I have a very stable weight and would go to the gym 2 or 3 times a week just to maintain my weight but since I joined Fitness First I have started doing classes three times a week and I have noticed the shape of my legs, bum and muscle tone improve greatly. I have to say the three free personal trainer sessions I had at the beginning were terrible - the guy was so unreliable, but I can't say enough good things about the classes and gym equipment.

I would highly recommend some of the smaller gyms in and around the Marina. I assume that's where you live if you are looking at Tribe Fit. I thought Tribe Fit was pretty amazing - but it appeals more to the young single crowd then a busy working mum ..... It depends what you want to do - if you want to do some classes - Studio Fitness (JBR) is fantastic. They have some excellent instructors and their prices are very very reasonable. (studiofitness.ae) If you want to do Cross Fit type workouts - head to CrossFit Life Spark at JLT. If you want to try outdoor exercise (even in this heat) then do one of the bootcamps - Original Fitness Co runs bootcamps all over Dubai and Abu Dhabi (and are the best!). If you are into weights / hard core gym there is a new gym opposite the mall of the emirates called Warehouse Gym. Before you hand over loads and loads of money to Fitness First - look at some of the independent gyms - they are run by professionals who genuinely care about their members. One of the instructors from Studio Fitness has set up company that runs a website fitness link (http://www.fitnesslink.me/) which lists all the details of accredited fitness instructors and gyms in the UAE. Worth a look - as you may be amazed at the standard of the instructors at the smaller gyms. Good luck

Personally I haven't had a very good experience with Fitness First. To be fair the equipment and facilities are excellent. Firstly its very expensive I used to be a member of fitness 360 which also had good equipment and a ladies gym (mazaya centre) and was much cheaper. I had 2/3 PT sessions with a lovely SA girl who really understood where i was coming from and where I wanted to go with my fitness. I left when my membership was up as my work and apt had moved and FF was closer. Even though it was more expensive i went for it they had more classes and a pool in the gym i was joining and being a platinum i had access to all the others. All great benefits.... BUT the PT which i got for three sessions as part of my joining fee was really rude I was recovering from abdominal surgery and a badly injured ankle so i certainly wasn't at my best but I had explained all this when we started and yet he made snide comments about my weight and kept saying it was only so hard because i was 'so' unfit. I found this totally demoralizing so cancelled my other two sessions (after trying to get another PT, none available at the times i could get there) and just got about using the gym. I swear getting to the equipment is like running a gantlet trying to avoid someone selling you pt sessions (even when they can't find one when i ask!) I get its their livelihood but i just want to my bit in piece by all means tell me if am going to injury myself doing something incorrectly but harassing me when i am on a treadmill?? I can't run and talk, so i can either be rude and make gestures to get them to leave me alone or i stop lose my rhythm and ask to leave me alone, they are never available just then as they are on the 'floor'. As for the classes, if you are new to a course and have any coordination issues/are just a bit slow to pick things up(like me) you haven't got a hope of figuring out whats going on!

I joined FF at Burjuman when I lived in Dubai. Found it too big and impersonal and the staff were not very cheerful or great with the personal training. Equipment is good though and lots of it. Never did the classes. It's v. expensive as I remember too, but then again, most gyms are. On the whole, would recommend, esp. if you are going to do the classes, as I've heard that they are v. good. edited by chizz on 04/08/2013

The classes are perfect timing and hopefully i get to see a difference soon.. Starry Eyed, you only saw a difference after 2 years ??? does that mean i will struggle for 2 years before i see any difference... i was hoping 2 weeks hehhe.. i really want to lose my baby fat.

I recently joined Fitness First in Media City and love it. They do classes before work which is perfect for me and I can walk to it from my apartment. I have been a member of a gym for the past two years but this is the first time that I am actually seeing a difference in my body shape and muscle tone. Ah so you are one of those ladies running laps around the building in the morning lol. On topic: I know only Fitness First and I signed up there last year because they have ladies only gyms. The locations were inconvenient though for me but I don't drive so that makes a difference. They have good classes and good equipment as well.
