Della Roso, You can also take your mum and aunt to the souk in Sharjah. Its airconditioned, has plenty of parking and some very nice bargains in terms of silver jewelery, knick knacks for the house and perfumes.

Had some friends who enjoyed the Palm one but the Royal Mirage one on the terrace is beautiful.... I think they prefer you to book if possible rather than show up but no doubt will cater for either. I think it is one of my favourite places here.... Yep I agree - it's absolutely gorgeous

I tried the One and Only, but they don't do afternoon tea any more, I believe.. Really? That's a shame was this the One and Only on the Palm or the Royal Mirage. The Royal Mirage one as always fab..... I'm afraid I can't remember - I read in Time Out it was great and good value for money and called to book, but got told no - maybe I misunderstood and it was just that day, but I got the distinct impression they'd stopped completely. Clearly, wrongly, as emlsnre says! Did they mean no you can't book you just turn up - only asking cos I've never booked.....

Not been to the new Palm one but the Royal Mirage is a beautiful hotel and their afternoon tea is stunning. If it was me I'd go for royal mirage. Perhaps go to the new one and only on the palm for cocktails one evening

I had a friend over last week and we decided that the Afternoon Tea at the Burj was too expensive, so we went to the one at Al Quasr in the Madinat instead. The setting was lovely, though of course not so high up, it was cheaper than the Burj Al Arab, with tea for two we got a massive doggy bag at the end as it was too much, so you can just share one tea and get an extra drink, there'll be enough and I'm sure they'll be nice about it. We went for drinks at SkyView in the evening because it was cheaper and we had a wonderful view of the lights of Dubai. The abras across the Creek were the best thing we did, though! Must stop faffing here and go and stuff me pancakes.. Sorry... do u remember the price in Madinat and Burj Arab??? much appreciated! ;) The Burj afternoon tea was AED 395 a head, and as I understand it, you have to spend that per person.. The drinks in the evening, you had to spend AED 190 a head, I think.. Al Qasr was AED140 per head for the tea, I think (I didn't pay!).

Other ideas: Burj Khalifa - book online in advance Dubai Mall fountains Gold & Spice souks on the Deira side & combine with a tour of the old Dubai Municipality building Wander round the dhows loading on the Deira side Eat out in Karama one evening If they want shopping with a difference and don't mind some walking try Dragonmart

I recently took some visitors down to the creek to check out the boats and then we took an Abra over to Bur Dubai. Was quite nice. Dear Andrea, sorry... what is Abra??? thanks The little motorised boats that chug across the creek between the spice/gold and textile markets for 1 dh-the bigger water taxis cost 4 dhs edited by wuffles on 08/03/2011 And you can hire a whole Abra for an hour for 100DH per boat which is a bargain - they take you up the creek to the floating bridge and then down to the lowest bend. Just make sure you stick to your guns to get the official rate as sometimes they try to charge tourists 100Dh per person. Our visitors always enjoy this trip, make sure you take a camera. I am sure you can bargain harder than that-I can!!!

My folks loved the Creek too, we had a lovely walk around to Heritage Village where we had a nice lunch in one of the restaurants. Then we got the Abra over to the The Gold Souk...... Most of our visitors have preferred that day out to any of the others. Afternoon T at the Burj is 395 I think, not sure about the other. Have heard alot say that the T at One & Only is very good and I think it is only 95.... One & Only in which hotel it is? and area? i am new to Dubai Thanks

Afternoon tea at Burj al Arab ( expensive though) Dinner on a dhow on the creek wander around the Madinat have dinner at Souk Al Bahar watching the fountains desert safari ( depending on age / sense of adventire of mum!) Captain Jack's boat cruise at Marina ( worth buying a family enteartainer book as you could save the cost of the book and more with one set of visitors!) Could you please tell me where can I buy THE ENTERTAINER BOOK??? Dubai Mall?? thansk!
