Thanks dentro, that's not what I meant as I assumed I'd have to go into Oman but that's great as it means not paying for Oman visa. I've flown in and out several times since my residence visa was cancelled so I'm ok on that score just this time trying to do it the quickest and cheapest way.

We own a business and have been informed that the employee must exit through the airport upon cancellation as we need to be able to provide the stamp and paper from immigration to show they have exited the country. Previously we provided the exit stamp in the passport that is no longer accepted. Once you return you can then make the 30 day visa runs

lakshmi: yes, no need to enter oman. but only if you are a citizen of those 33 countries.

I need to do a visa run soon, do I literally just drive across the border, turn round and come back straight away?

This is what I heard Currently passport holders from '33 countries' are issued with a free visit visa on arrival that lasts for 30 days (not 1 month, 30 days!). The countries are: Andorra Australia Austria Belgium Brunei Canada Denmark Finland France Germany Greece Hong Kong SAR Iceland Ireland Italy Japan Liechtenstein Luxembourg Malaysia Morocco Netherlands New Zealand Norway Portugal San Marino Singapore South Korea Spain Sweden Switzerland United Kingdom (or the right to abode in the UK) United States Vatican One off 30 day extensions are available at the Dubai Naturalization & Residency Department (DNRD) An alternative is to do a 'visa run' i.e. crossing the border for the purpose of renewing your visa. At present, there is no limit to the number of times you can do this. Citizens of these 33 countries do not have to wait one month before applying for a visit visa after leaving the UAE edited by Alismum on 22/09/2011

I think it depends what nationality you are. Certain nationals have to return to their home country and remain there for 30 days

Yes you can. Either fly/drive to somewhere close like Oman, or go to immigration itself and apply for 30 day visit visa. Costs more at immigration though. About Dhs 600 PP from memory. Make sure you don't overstay though. DH was just held at the airport for an hour Last week as he was one day over. Think he said it was Dhs 100 fine.

I'm guessing that after your residence is cancelled you have the normal 30 days to leave? After that I would also guess that the easiest way would be to leave and then come back in again with your visit stamp.
