mods pleaaaaaassseee don't put this in the health area for a bit, because most healthy fit people probably don't check it and I totally need some advice!!!

I want to start getting back into shape, and I'm trying to get some ideas on what to do!

what do you do to keep active everyday?

I do Zumba, Belly Dancing and Step aerobics. I find the classes really enjoyable and I love dancing so for me its like a fun way of getting toned up. However, I'm also on a calorie controlled diet too - its so right what the other ladies on here have said about exercise alone not being the answer.

I workout at home every day! I do circuit training, cardio, muscle work, yoga, pilates... I don't have a gym at home, but you'll be surprised how much you can do without a gym :) and without joining a gym or a fitness center! If you want to see some (cost free) instructions and inspiration for workouts at home, google my lucky 9 and go to the body category of this page. (I am a fitness professional with 16 years of experience). And remember being active is a lifestyle. Small choices that lead to big changes! :)

Fitness bootcamp thrice a week (when i was in Dubai) Yoga once a week Running thrice a week Every now and then i also do wallclimbing, camping, Zumba and bodypump classes. I would do anything except training alone at gym. Makes me feel sad.

When I was losing weight I grabbed every opportunity for incidental exercise, walked every evening for 45 minutes and used a fit band when watching the tv. When I decided to tone up more I bought a cross trainer not because I like them but because it burned more calories than walking on a treadmill or using a stationary bike plus I downloaded the 30 day Shred and did it every day for 30 days straight (twice). When I wanted to increase my fitness I did the Couch to 5km running program and then worked my way up to 2 x 5km, 1 x 8km and 1 x 10+km per week while still doing the 30 day Shred 1 - 2 times per week and if I have the energy using the cross trainer for 15 minutes every second night or so. I am about to drop 1 x 5km and add in a Bikram (hot) yoga class. Example Week: (rounded times) Monday - Shred (30 minutes) Tuesday - 8km run (60 minutes) Wednesday - Bikram Yoga (90 minutes) Thursday - Shred (30 minutes) Friday - 5km run (30 minutes) Saturday - Rest Day Sunday - 10+km run (90 minutes) Total 5.5 hours Before you say you don't have 5.5 hours it is only 3.3% of the hours in a week and well under the 10% of weekly hours we should be dedicating to looking after ourselves (me time).

I have also started the 30 day shred but prior to that (and now as well as) I FORCE myself to go to gym classes 3 times a week - spinning, yoga, body pump..... I can't do the normal gym, I totally lack motivation and don't put in effort when I get there but in the classes I have to. I wish I was one of those people who loves exercise, I absolutely hate it and really have to drag myself. But I absolutely love my food so it's a necessary evil :(

TBH, I loose weight by drinking Costa coffee and cafe Nero. Don't really know if there is any bad chemical product in their coffee but they are very laxatives. :\::\: Is this a serious answer to the question Paris6? :D Yes, I'm :)

Yes it's really tough isn't it. I don't know. All the usual stuff of taking stairs instead of lifts etc. Go mall walking? I run all year round, I don't use the heat as an excuse not to get out there. I just have to do it in the evenings after the sun has gone down when it's really hot. Perhaps get a pedometer and make sure that you get your 10,000 steps per day in. Even if it means walking around the house :)

Losing weight is not about exercise. It's about not eating too much. Exercise is just the icing on the bodylicious cake. Calories in is the deciding factor as to whether or not you stay fat. Running a marathon is equivalent to 1 packet of hobnobs. Lots of people stay fat because they say they have no time to exercise. The reality is they stay fat because they eat too much. Exercise to stay healthy and fit, but don't use it as the main way to lose weight. Keeping active is great and should be strongly encouraged but you HAVE to watch what you eat. Yes, thats totally right, but getting active is such a challenge for me, because I really don't know what to do! When Im in Sydney/London/Auckland I spend most of my time walking everywhere so staying active comes naturally but here I seem to be on my butt most of the day be it behind a desk or car wheel!
