Just to clarify...the sponsor does not need to be present in the POLO office to get the paperwork done? TIA

She does not need to go to Polo office for anything except to apply for reentry back into country after taking vacation. if you are renewing her visa, only you as her sponsor can do that and you have to go to Immigration yourself to do the paperwork, submit her passport for the visa stamp and pay the fees. That's it. And as you mentioned you are also going to be paying her 2months salary and cost of air ticket before you leave for vacation (why?) she is well cashed up to buy herself a ticket and go! I would Tell her that you as her sponsor is responsible for her so her passport remains in your safe keeping until she needs it for travel. I would hate to think what would happen when you're away IF she did leave. Now that would be a whole set of problems. let us know what happens

Hi Sorry to Hijack the thread but my maid is just having her visa renewed now so she will get her new Labour Contract within the next week or so. We are going on vacation for a month on the 20th of July and leaving her in our house for a month by herself ( yes I trust her) Right after I told her that we would pay her the equivalent of an airline ticket as she's not going back this year, and her 2 months salary , she asks me if I would mind leaving her passport with her as she wants to go and register her new labour contract with the Polo Office???? What do maids actually need to do at the Polo Office? Do they only need to get the paper to come back into Dubai when they have been away. I am not the suspicious type but this request sounded a little off to me.. Is she telling the truth?

Can they also apply for their exit pass in one of the POLO-exit passes in the Philippines? According to my maid she got hers last year from the POLO close to where she stayed in Philippines. Don't want to let her go and then finding out that she cannot apply for exit-pass in Philippines itself, and it has to be done here in Dubai?

Hooray - did it all in 1.5 hours at the Abu Dhabi embassy this morning. I decided it was not worth trying at the Dubai POLO office although a friend had managed to get it done there with an unstamped Abu Dhabi contract. The contract I finally presented was a hybrid of the online contract and the arabic immigration contract with the salary on both shown as 1,500 dhs. The other paperwork I downloaded and typed on my computer before printing, signing and photocopying. The main thing to know is that the staff are all friendly and happy and are not there to catch you out, unlike a lot of other places here!

Sorry but I am still confused about the contract. Which contract do I take to the Phillipine Embassy. Did you take the Abu Dhabi Immigration contract or did you have the Phillipine Embassy contract typed up? If so, is there a typing centre at the Embassy? Did you get it typed in English and Arabic or just in English (which I can do myself) My Immigration contract says Dh400 only as the salary which my PRO says is standard for Abu Dhabi but I think this is not acceptable at the embassy as they want 1500 as a salary. I am driving down from Dubai on Tuesday to get this all done and really really don't want to get there to find that I have the wrong paperwork.

Nope. Just hand written. I don't even think they look at them..just another paper and time wasting exercise. The exit pass only lasts two months so make sure you don't get it too early or it will run out before your maid needs to get back into the country. No Arabic translations or stamps needed. You must also take 2 copies and original of your maids employment contract. It will be checked at the POLO office and they will stamp it to say that it is legal. Then they can go to the next desk and get their exit pass. Have fun!

Did you have these forms typed or were they handwritten? Do they need to be stamped anywhere else before you go? What about arabic translation?

I thought I would post this to help others who are in the same situation. Our filipina maid is going on vacation next week so I had to take her to the POLO office yesterday to obtain her exit pass so that she can re-enter Dubai without any problems. Here are the docs you need: Go to www.polo-owwadubai.net and go to the downloadable for section. In the 'forms for household staff' section you need to print off and fill in the: * undertaking_of_employer-a4_size_bomd.doc *ofw_data_sheet_for_balik_manggagawa.pdf *infor_sheet-a4_size_bond.xls You also need 2 copies of each of these forms and 2 copies of the sponsors visa and passport and your helpers visa and passport pages, and 2 copies and original of helpers employment contract from the ministry of labour. The charges are 150dhs. There is a copy of the location map on the website as well but typical Dubai...it is useless! We got to the Abu Hail Road and then found a Taxi to follow the rest of the way. We went at 3.30pm and it was extremely busy. It is probably better to get there early. It took about 1hr and a half when I went so it is probably best to drop your helper off and then go to Carrefour round the corner in Century Mall for a coffee and collect her when she is done. Hope this helps and Good luck in finding the place!! edited by kerry80 on 22/06/2011
