hey guys,

I am driving an audi q5 2.0T. This car needs an engine oil with the specifications of full synthetic OW-40. So far I only could get this oil at the audi dealer itself. but driving to the dealer everytime needs oil to be added up is little annoying. I have checked at several petrol stations and garages, but could not find it somewhere else :-(

Anyone knows where to get it or knows a place where I could check?!

thanks!

I'm with fjcruiser... if the oil level is going down on a recent car, something is wrong. Either you have a leak or you are burning oil, and you shouldn't be burning oil on an engine less than 10 years old. EDIT - I just Googled it and yes, there is a known issue with the Q5 2.0T burning oil. Audi says it's within the design tolerances for it to burn 1 litre every 3-5000km, but a lot of owners are very fed up with it.

Hi SuessMyriam, I am driving Q5 too and when 1st time sign came up on the screen, I call the service centre immediatly and spoken to one of the service agent. He said you can go to petrol station and ask to top up the oil, but it has to be FULLY SYNTETIC OIL - MOBIL Brand is highly recommended - I make sure I made a note for next time. quote'> and where did you find this place where you can get a oil with the needed specification?

when do you need to go to the garage every time to fill it up...just buy a big bottle from Audi or 2 or 3 then top it up yourself when it needs doing

But dont top up more then 1 liter!!!! :). Me and DH added two liters last time....and after two weeks I end up going to the service centre to drain the oil cause it was overflow :)

Audi are special, I know we have 2. You cannot get them serviced anywhere but Audi. If are needing more oil all the time buy more !

On a recent car like the Q5 you should not have to top up the engine oil. May be you have a leak or need to service your car more often perhaps. I found that the recommended service intervals for cars like VW, Audi or Jaguars for eg were far too spaced out in the UAE. I service my old jag at AAA and the mechanic said cars here should be serviced every 5,000kms like the japanese cars. When I used to service it according to the Jag book, all sorts of warnings came up around the 6,000 kms and I did not have any leaks. It makes sense to service more often because of the heat. edited by fjcruiser on 18/04/2012

If you can get it from Audi why not just get it from there? Have you tried the bigger ENOC / EPPCO stations they may sell it. been to so many ENOC/EPPCO...not this oil :-( always having to go to audi is annoying as I am sometimes far away and as I drive a lot, I have to add up the oil often
