Is there a Karama type place? I know a lot of these bags are made in Thailand but when I last visited I only saw cheap copies. Where should I go ?

I've just come back from holidaying in Bangkok & the best place to go is Silom Village. Any taxi driver will take you there. It's a small shopping centre and there are a couple of good shops there that do great copies. They have a catalogue and you can choose the bag you want and they will fetch it for you. My friend (who lives in Bangkok) took me so we got good prices. I bought a beautiful new season Fendi and when I was in Karama this week, all the guys there admired it and wanted to know where I got it as they don't have it yet! Great quality, but not cheap - about same prices as Karama. However, like Karama, all the shops were on high alert for police raids, so it can be hit & miss. My friend said MBK rubbish - ok for kids but that's all! If you google Silom Village you will find it - think the shop I bought from was called Jinny, or maybe the one next to it. MBK, but you will have to ask for the really good stuff as they won't have them on display. There's a good one on a corner at the top of one of the escalators on the mobile phone level (3rd floor, I think), but just ask around as there are lots of little stores selling them.

The bag shop on the top levels usually have just the cheapo cheerful types. But on the bottom floor (where the McDonald's is) are rows of little glass booths/shops and a few of those have the Dior/Chanel copies etc... not cheap, still a few thousand baht but better than the ones upstairs. I've also seen a few stalls with the books. I've never bought a brand copy though so can't speak for the quality. The copies are rubbish although the booths sell copies of MAC makeup, haviana flip flops Handbags were naff, Dubai is so much better

I bought a really nice one at MBK in Bangkok a few years ago, gorgeous leather. I was just looking for a nice bag, not a fake as such. Hunt around the bag floor at MBK, there are a couple of shops that do nice ones.

Some with the cheap copies will have albums displayed with pics of the good copies.Talk to them and tell them you need to see the good copy(first check the price with few of the guys).They will then take you their warehouse/stores. I havent been to BKK recently so not sure if these guys still do this. HTH
