Hello ladies, I'm expecting baby No2 in 4 weeks. my 3 years old DD is so far very Enthusiastic with the event but i'm not sure this good mood will continue when the baby will be actually here. any good advice on how to help her accept her little brother? friends told me to buy her a present as if the baby brought it for her. anything else I can do? thanks

Have a special toy they play with while you are breastfeeding... My 2 and half year old would want my attention as soon as I started feeding the new baby. He would climb all over me and get jealous. As soon as your finished feeding baby give her some attention and cuddles. Aquadoodle is a good one as its not messy just water and keeps them busy. Mornings can be a little tricky at first if they both wake up and want food at the same time. I eventually got the younger one into a routine to wake up at 6am feed, back to sleep so when his brother woke at 7 I could get his breakfast ready without holding baby. It did take a little while to get this sorted but made a big difference not having two crying kids that wanted food! I made a game of most things. Getting the wet wipes out to help with the nappy. Put the nappy into the bin etc. Include her in as much as possible so she knows new baby hasn't replaced her. Good luck and hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. She already thinks that she will be the one feeding the baby and changing his nappies :-)

The gift is a good idea and about all I did. My DD was the same age as yours when DS was born. I also tried to include her allot, like "helping" mommy by fetching things for the baby. Also try to spend as much time as you can with her after DS comes home, which is not too difficult as they tend to sleep allot during the first few weeks. I felt it was just important to keep her feeling included and she was therefore more proud than jealous of her baby brother. Good luck!
