I ended up just on brufen and luckily that was enough for me. I was on painkillers and antibiotics on a drip in the hospital, at which time I didnt feed as had stockpilled in the days leading up to the surgery. I ws then given painkillers and antibiotics at home. The antibiotics were safe and the painkillers weren't. Like you said, the knowledge of Dr's and nurses on the ward were shocking, they just kept saying we don't often deal with nursing mothers....you;d have thought they could have gone to the maternity ward upstairs though lol!! I was given Mobic for the pain, but the instructions say you shouldnt breastfeed under any circumstances on them!!
I have to say we found her brilliant. I got the impression it wasnt about money but her passion to help. I had her for antenatal classes and she was very informative in those as really we had no idea! We then used the hour solo session that was part of the antenatal classes when the baby was born, and again she was great, very encouraging, supportive and helpful. She was always available on the phone for me. i had kidney stones and had to be operated on when the baby was 8 weeks old and i was able to phone her and ask about the pain killers i'd been put on (which were totally unsuitable for a feeding mother from both Cecile and my own research) and we had weigh ins with her every 2 weeks which were fantastic. She always had plenty of time for us with any questions and the prices for that were fantastic!! All in all, as previous posters have said, for first time parents with little support over here, she was fantastic!! Each to their own I guess!!
I had gallbladder surgery when I was bf, I was very concerned about the meds too may I ask which painkiller had been recommend for you? Thr is very little research on meds and bf and sadly dr and hospitals here r not that up to date.

Second time mum and DS was so easy. Number two however has colic so zero, and I mean zero, sleep at night. Can get into a routine no mstter how hard I try, EBF and refuses to take a bottle. I'm really desperate for any advise or help
Hi CK30 - does your LO display any signs of distress during or after feeding? About 67% of cases of colic are actually reflux related according to research cited in Allison Scott Wright's book "The Sensational Baby Sleep Plan". Might be worth checking out with your doctor.
I used her twice and can't recommend her enough. However, the last I heard, she was still in SA with visa problems so if you haven't already, it might be worth emailin her yahoo account to find out more
I was literally desperate when I saw her for sleep issues and she literally saved my sanity. I don't always agree with her advice on feeding - although I hear much of it second-hand, so I can't say for sure it's what she's actually said - but her sleep tips were a Godsend for me. I'll be seeing her soon to make sure we're on track with DD, as there's no way in h3ll I want to end up in the same situation with her as we did with DS.

Whether or not her methods feel right for someone's family, Cecile is passionate about helping parents and babies in an environment that offers very little help after delivery.
You hit the nail on the head!
She's not for everyone and there will always be good and bad feedback.
My understanding is that she is not a certified LC so if a mom asked us for recommendation I would send her to Cecile.
If you are looking for evidence based Breastfeeding support thr is list published by BFC on this site.
I found her great when my LO was born as I was really clueless when it came to breastfeeding. She turned up and baby latched on straight away! I felt very comfortable with her and it was nice that I did not have to trek all the way to see my paed at American Hospital to check all was ok with the baby. I found her very patient and caring would really recommend her to first time mums.
Prices irrelvant to me in my situation when I have no family support here as a ftm to be and no other means of getting the support from docs or hospitals. Regardless of the fee, she offers a great service, and is, from what I can tell passioniate about making the paths of new mums easier in this place. Am definately not made of money at all and my hard earned cash goes towards paying for the additional support I believe I need but it is worth every penny to me and my husband.
To be honest, I think it's in poor taste to reveal her fee on a public forum. People like Cecile tailor their assistance based on the needs of the family and the fee structure will probably vary accordingly.

I have to say I wasn't too impressed either. Have met her at a baby show (I was browsing another stall and she came to me and dh) and she was very pushy asking all sorts of negative questions about dd who was only a few months old at the time. When we mentioned the only thing that wasn't in place at the time was her sleeping pattern she immediately told us dd was "playing us" and "manipulating us" and we had to be stricter. Enough said that was the end of our conversation (dd had colics and she had full night from the age of 4 months, once the colics were gone!).
I also found her prices crazy, she's charging almost as much as a pediatrician fee!!! She told me that I could claim the money back on my insurance which turned out to be untrue and Im not sure if she really does that much, most of the issues I was having in the begining were solved by the pediatrician (which is covered by insurance) and also I found expat woman and the interent in general a great source of information. I feel as if this service is cashing in too much on that fact that there is no post delivery healthcare visits offered as standard in Dubai.
i would recommend her for first time mothers who are having serious issues with setting a routine for their newborns in terms of sleep, feeding, etc... for those who are comfortable reading parenting books and implementing the strategies that would probably be a cheaper alternative but some parents prefer the one-to-one contact with an actual consultant to be able to help them through the process...
she's currently away in south africa (waiting on her visa for dubai)...
