she was AMAZING! Was with her for my DD, born in feb. Very patient, supportive, very calm, never panics, doesnt rush through her appointments, no matter how busy she is! Friendly too, isnt just all business! and she said i was her star patient, on top of her list :D, made to give birth (although IMO once was enough!!) but then maybe she says that to all of her patients :/:

Dr Braithwaite delivered my LO last November and like the other comments on here, I cannot praise her enough. I was keen to have a natural birth and felt she was very patient and safely delivered my LO after 21 hours of labour. At one point both me and DS were in danger and there was lots of panic but she remained calm and did what she had to do. I don't remember any of that, but DH said he thought he had lost both of us at one point. If I were to have another, I would definitely use her again.

Loved Dr Raj at American Hospital. She has a great sense of humour and wasn't scan/appointment happy which suited me. She also worked at the maternity hospital in my home town in the UK which somehow swung it for me when deciding between Welcare and American. Also loved the American Hospital. You'll find good and bad reviews on every hospital but I couldn't fault my experience of AH. There was one stroppy nursery nurse but if that was the worst thing, then the stay was pretty good! I had a c-section and the care couldn't have been better. The aneathetist (spelling?) was great, really put me at ease and the midwife and nurses were so caring. The room was spacious and the bed comfy (good job too as I spent 5 days in it!). the food was ok but then again I wasn't in there for the food. I didn't have a birth plan but somehow they did everything the way I wanted and didn't do anything without asking my consent first. The nursery has a camera above each cot so you can view your baby if s/he goes into the nursery. The hospital was quiet and the nurses not intrusive and they were literally there within seconds after pressing the buzzer. I felt I was the only patient in there as nothing was too much trouble. The admin side was a breeze and once they thought I was paying myself (although I claimed it back on insurance but the nurses didn't know that) the nurses were really careful not to use anything I might be charged extra for so there were no extras on the bill. I thought I would be desperate to get home after a couple of days but actually was glad I spent 5 days there as I came out quite well rested!!! Some people like the BF consultant and others don't. I was BF anyway so there was no pressure as I was already doing it so can't really comment on that.

Hi, Dr Braithwaite has just delivered my beautiful baby last Sunday. I have to say she was really amazing. She was there in good time for the birth, knew exactly what to do when problems arouse during my labour ( she worked extra hard to ensure I did not receive a C Section as baby was in the wrong position, so she had to manually turn babies head during a contraction) and really made me feel that I was a priority as her patient. I can not recommend her enough. She is an excellent doctor and any woman would feel secure being look after. She even visited me to check how I was doing on her day off. I really hope I can have her for deliveries in the future! Overall I had a very positive experience at American Hospital. p.s (No pressure to breastfeed either)

Hi I had my second there 2 years ago I wasn't pressured at all, I remember them just asking then they just make a note on the records and got a tablet to dry the mik up, they just asked y , mine was due to the medication I need to take. I was more pressured and uncomfortable with the nurses pressuring me with my first in the uk.

For those ladies who have given birth in the American Hospital - are you pressured into breasteeding by the midwives/doctor? I'm undecided, I think I'll attempt it but as a first time mum, I think I would feel more confident using bottles as I would be able tell how much the baby has had.

Absolutely fantastic - that is all I can say about her! Just had a baby five weeks ago and can't say enough good things about her. She knows her job well and has excellent bedside manners. I did a series of 'first appointments' with several doctors out here and none of them was a match on Dr. Braithwaite. Also the midwives at the AH are all fabulous and the whole experience was really wonderful. Stick with Dr. Braithwaite, you will not regret it!

Interesting story Dollymud! Glad everything was ok - sounds like it was quick thinking from Dr Braithwaite. parichehr - I don't think you'll get anyone who has used both Dr Raj and Dr Braithwaite to make a comparison - why don't you do a search on the forum and read the different stories?

I can not recommend Dr Braithwaite enough I delivered with her at AH in January and had my antenatal care with her, she is absolutely brilliant I believe she saved my baby! My baby had not moved so I called the nurse and within half an hour Dr B had actually taken time to call me herself and said come over (even though it was late in the day) and said I will see you, I went onto the ward they could hear the baby's hearbeat and she said look im gonna break your waters and start you off ( I was 36 + 3) she then said she would leave me with midwife and she was going for her dinner, but within 10 mins she came back and said I have a feeling I need to get this baby out, i wash rushed for an emergency C-section and sure enough my baby had the cord around his neck 3 times! she delivered him quickly and professionally and I believe to this day saved his life, my scar is minimal and her fast actions commendable. If i were to have any more (im not i have a 16yr old, a dramatic 9yr old, and Harry who is my angel) i would not hesitate in having Dr B take care of me again! oh and she's very glamorous and funny!!! :) Good Luck, you will be in safe hands with this lady!

Hi, I just noticed this thread and thought I would share my opinions. I am also with Dr Braithwaite and I am due at the end of July. I am very impressed with her professional manner and would definitely recommend her to other ladies. I like the fact that she completed her training in the UK and it is clear she is very experienced in her field. You will also not be rushed at any appointment you have with her, as she takes her time to answer any questions you might have.

Hi, I'm with Dr Braithwaite, although haven't given birth yet (9 weeks to go!) I just moved here in May so I'm pretty new as well. Any appointments I've had with Dr Braithwaite have been good, she seems really relaxed about things which is good for putting my mind at ease. I've read loads of good reviews about her also. I'll be able to give you a better update once I've had the baby! LAD.... Can't wait to hear your experience. I am sure everything will just be great! I am going back to the hospital on Sunday to have my next ultrasound and then meet Braithwaite on the 16th for my next follow up. Stay in touch!

I had my second dd at AH 2 years ago. The only thing I could fault was the food lol and that's the last thing on ure mind. My doctor was dr raj, I had a c section with her due to complications on my first child. I'm also due my 3rd and will be having the same doc in AH I'n September.

I'm not with Dr Braithwaite but do let us know how it goes with her - haven't heard of her and it's always nice to hear about good obs/gynae options! I did give birth at the American Hospital a few months back; it was a toss up between City and AH but I liked the AH midwives better. It does depend on your expectations though, I just wanted peace, a lot of walking space, quiet and a lot of say and flexibility of care which I certainly got in AH, so it was the perfect choice for me. The only bit that troubled me is that the security in the hospital postnatal ward is very poor. Anyone could just walk in to the ward and your room at any time, even though they were overly ambitious about the nursery security - didn't make sense to me. Good luck anyway, I hope you have a wonderful delivery and a lovely hospital stay. xxx
