You should also check with the airline you are travelling with. There is an international standard re how far into your term you can travel, but as a pilots wife I have travelled extensively and seen some pretty stressed situations. One particular case the lady was rather large in the belly and despite pleas and doctors letters they would not let her travel. Don't want to burden you with additional baggage but always good to check. All the best with the birth. :)

The rules at Latifa (Al Wasl) change all the time and may be different for you anyway since you will be arriving in the country late in your pregnancy. Best to contact them directly and find out. These two numbers are listed on the website - 04-2193000, 04-3241111 Can I suggest that that when you call, you insist on speaking to the Head of Ante-Natal Care? You will get a different answer from each person who answers the phone on the front desk while the current head of ANC will know what's actually relevant to your case and be able to help you.

Thank you for your replies, ladies.. I'm very unsure about having baby in Dubai mainly because I dont quite understand the laws there about maternity care. I'm guessing Al Wasl would be out of the question this late in my pregnancy, right? Even found an article on Gulfnews saying that you have to pay double the usual fees if you are not registered with them from the beginning (am not on any insurance). I will be looking at the various hospitals, like how Sally suggested American Hospital. City Hospital also seems to be a good experience for many women on this forum. But is it true that emergency cases are referred to Wasl? And that in some cases they even refuse unregistered patients?

Some Doctors and Latifa Hospital won't take you in after 28 weeks but there are LOADS of others that will so don't fret you will get a Doctor. Better to chose one now and try to make an appointment as you may have to wait a week or two to get in.

I moved here when I was about 7 months pregnant with my first child and it was absolutely fine. I gave birth at the American Hospital, and just brought my medical file with me from the US with all my notes and test results.

I'm sure it happens. People move to Dubai every day and some of them must be in a similar situation to yours. Your best bet might be to contact some of the hospitals and see who you can get in to see and what information they will need from your current medical practitioner. Don't worry...it will be ok. Just start making calls and get a plan together. Best wishes.

I am 30 weeks pregnant and have come to my home country for my pregnancy and delivery. However, something has come up and I may have to return to Dubai. This is far from an ideal scenario, and I guess if I have to absolutely remain here, then I probably should, esp since I am in my 3rd trimester. But has anyone here had their antenatal care abroad but then come to Dubai to deliver? or know of anyone who has? :((( am really worried....
