Perhaps make an appointment to see a dietician to give you more advice on a low GI diet. Managing your glucose levels is essential for yours and your baby's health. Exercise also plays a major role - 30-40mins daily will help :)
Hi! I also monitor my blood sugar - found out that my blood sugar gets higher with white bread than dark chocolate:)
I eat more or less normal, just less carbs - good luck
What really helped me was to monitor my blood sugar until, as guinness said, I understood how food affected me, and talking to a nutritionist to develop an eating plan specific to diabetes and pregnancy. Then I bought a book that detailed the GI for food and just ate foods with low GI. Lots of lentils, grilled veggies, chicken and fish. Honestly, I was not hungry as you need to take small meals to even out your sugar.
So, don't stress (pregnancy is stressful enough) but if you're not getting enough info from your doctor - I didn't - then go see an endocrinologist or diabetic professional and analyze your eating habits and you may find it very easy to control.
Take your blood sugar levels all the time (both before and after meals) - even more than they recommend. It will give you a better understanding of where your sugars are at and what triggers high blood sugar for you. If possible, schedule a ten or 15 minute walk after each meal.
Did you dr not give you any advice?!
Talk to your dr and discuss it with them until you are fully satisfied with the answers and clear about what you should be doing to help, what the risks are and what the course of action is.
Dont worry about it. It is totally pregnancy related, can be treated and controlled. It will not affect your baby. You only need to cut out sugar completely and watch your diet. You will be fine- As soon as your baby is born its more likely than not, that it will dissapear. Make sure your GYN is well experienced and knows what she/he is doing- Always get a second opinion or through reading so you know your doing the right thing.
Yesterday I found out from my doc that I have gestational diabetes. I am in the beginning of the second trimnester and did a glycos test. It shown that I had diabetes. I don’t know so much about it. Do anyone has any suggestions or advice about it or has been in the same situation? I need some support :) Quite depressing I was eating healthy food and did exercise so strange!
