Can't say that I have had a good experience with Mirena - whilst I loved the lack of periods etc, it has really stuffed my body up. I now have pre-diabetes, PCOS and used to have constant thrush. Since it has come out, no more thrush and I'm battling the pre-diabetes with diet and exercise. After doing some research, there is a small percentage of women those body reacts differently with Mirena. Of course, out of all the women I know on it, I have been the only one to experience problems. Never had these problems with I was on oral contraception, but too scared to try it now just in case I end up with similar problems.

Mirena Coil has been fantastic for my experience. I think *urex are made from rubber and not elastic! If they were   elastic we would be extinct!

Thanks ladies for your input!! I think I'll research the coil or IUD, as I want to try to stay away from chemical contraceptives, given the negative effect they have on me, although I may talk to my dr about the mini pill. thanks again!!

IUD stays up to 5 years ... unless it falls out. Sorry, "is rejected"! you can ask the Gyn to shorten the thread - if this is the right name - so you won't pull it out by mistake, that what I had before. again, yeah you maybe be right, as the Gyn if not really know their job, he/she could move it from it's place if you have to have the pupsmir(spl?) thing.... ETA to: why DH not having the snip? that would take loads of the trouble? edited by Gorobattie on 24/04/2011 lol - no... not pulled out... dropped out. It apparently occasionally happens. I'm all for the snip, tbh. Dh and I have a pact - if we have a third, he's in hospital the day after I am!

Ah, Redrec Triangle, that would be what the French refer to as a preservative, though to be honest, I'd rather not have that on toast for breakfast..

Ask about the Mirena Coil - it has worked fabulously for me for 4 years. When I had it fitted my GP said that women either love it, or will have it out in the first few months. Most of my friends who have it, love it. It lasts 5 years and I have no periods on it.

To add to that, there are many different types of pills, maybe try a few others. If you are ok with Cerazzette then you can have the Depo injection as it's the same hormones and you just get a jab once every 3 months.

Sister has the bar in her arm. 3 years and she says its great. However if you are having side effects from the pill its entirely possible you will have side effects from any form of drug based contraception. I too have issues, am now on the mini pill cerazette which seems to be working for me. Low doseage and really effective form of contraceptive. Just a thought?

There are lots, what about implants, the depo injection, IUD's and so on. It;s really something you should discuss with your gynae.

I'm through having babies and really want to get my tubes tied, but hubby worries, first as it's surgery and 2nd as it's so permanent. What are other options? I'm on the pill but having unpleasant side effects, I would like to learn about other means of contraception, any input appreciated!
