Hi Ladies, So I missed out on the catch up. Is anyone up for another meetup? Aussiepup- I am the same with bf'ing in public, but I see lots of ladies at cafes with a cover, I'd love to be able to relax and do the same. Delphine was great also, I'd recommend her to anyone in a similar situation, she is truly a great resource! Anyway, hope to hear back and meet you all soon

I certainly don't think b'feeding comes naturally. I struggle because I am large chested and I feel uncomfortable outside of the house feeding. Even in mall rooms that are built specifically, I don't know but just not relax enough. I hated bf with DS1 and think the only reason I managed to get o 5.5 mths with him doing bf and ff in combination was because I felt so guilty in that I wanted him to get the best he could from me but also because I'm competitive and challenge myself a lot, and when mostof my friends were able to do it so easily I thought I should keep going. In the end I'm glad I got to where we did, I had thrush on b**bs for 14 weeks on and off plus cracked n*pples too so it wasn't a pleasant experience at all. This time I was going to try but if I went through anything like last time swore I would for my own and my families peace of mind, I would go to formula and not stress. Thankfully this time has been a completely dif experience. DS2 did have tounge tie but thx to Dubaicat recommending dr Delphine, thought I would give her a try. If there was one thing I learnt from first time around, is that it was good to seek help when things weren't going right ... I left it too long first time around, this time I wasn't going to! Feeding is different now... Baby is finally latching, over his jaundice and feeding better than first week. I've emailed dr Delphine when ever I have had any qtns or wasn't sure of something and the support from her has gee brilliant. She also recommended the breastfeeding support group BFC mentions. Good luck with it all. Sing out if you need an ear! Xox

Thanks Aussiepup, We are making some progress this week, which makes me feel a lot better about BFing. I also made an appt with Dr Delphine next week. Looking forward to getting some help. And thank you to everyone else regarding the BF support, it just seems so easy and I completely expected it to just come naturally for both of us, how naive! I think attending the support group would help me a lot. (I am totally clueless, do you take your bubs to these groups :-/ ) edited by sparkly on 04/04/2012

Congratulations Twinsmum and Sparkly! Wonderful to hear both of you have had safe deliveries. That must be all of us now!!! Sparkly, I have replied to your other expressing thread as well, but as Aussiepup mentions, if you are having bfing issues - I would definitely contact a lactation consultant to help you out. Breastfeeding can be very difficult, and sometimes they have little adjustments you can make to assist you and your baby. As BFC notes below, there is also the breastfeeding support group - I am going to be attending this group on the 14th to discuss baby lead weaning as part of the introducing solids part of the agenda. I know it has been a little while since you posted about this, but I hope things are getting a little better for you! Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Congratulations to all the new mamas! For those who are breastfeeding, I just wanted to let you know that peer group Breastfeeding Q&A is holding a seminar at Latifa Hospital on 14th April for bf mums & dads with guest speakers including the fab Dr Delphine who AussiePup mentioned. Topics covered will be the role of dads in supporting breastfeeding, breastmilk expression (pumping/hand expression), and introducing solids alongside breastfeeding. The speakers and breastfeeding counsellors will be available in the break for individual questions. For more information or to sign up, please e-mail [email protected] . xx

Wonderful news twinsmum and sparkly. Congrats to you both! My mum is here at moment so not sure I can make the catch up but will email you Tanya to find out details. Sparkly, I have had issues with feeding to. I have been seeing dr Delphine at motor city and she has been brilliant with helping us. Feel totally at ease and you never feel like she has to get to the next patient. I think lactation appointments she books you in for 1-1.5 hrs and the other day we were easily in there for 1.5 or tad longer. The best thing I think I have done though is hire a hospital grade double expressing pump it's sooooooo much gentler but way more effective pumping than any of the other pumps I've tried.

Hi Ladies, it's lovely to read that many of you have welcomed your little bundles of joy into this world safely. This is the first time I have logged on since I gave birth almost 4 weeks ago now! Bubs is going well, she's just perfect. We are having some issues w BFing which I hope we are going to get through sooner rather than later. Argh, it seems so simple, I never expected to have BF issues :-/ So I really hope I haven't missed out on the get together, I will send an email and hope to get the details on where and when the meet up is. Look forward to meeting you all and sharing experiences!

Hi all, Miss Lucie arrived safe and sound at 13.51 on 27th march weighing 3.57kg. She's absolutely perfect :-) the C section actually wasn't as bad as last time & recovery incredibly quick, catheter & IV were removed the following morning, had shower & just on painkillers. They might even let me go home today! We're working on breastfeeding & my nipples feel like they've been put through a blender but will persevere... American hospital has been great except they keep wanting to take baby away to the nursery, I have to keep insisting that she's staying with me. Very, very happy :-) hope to meet you all soon x

Congratulations Pingu!!!! That is wonderful news! I am guessing twinsmum will be holding her little girl by now! I hope everyone is doing okay. We are good - DD is 4 weeks this Friday, I really can't believe it has gone so fast, and she is growing, so, so quickly - it is incredible! Still having reflux issues, it has got a little worse, but I am trying a few different things to see how we go! Ladies, if you are keen to catch up once everyone is a little more settled - perhaps the 2nd or 3rd week of April??? Pop me an email on brutis dot mctavish at gmail dot com - and I will make the arrangements so we can get our little babies together!

All the very best for tomorrow, twinsmum. My C-section was also a last minute decision and I really wanted a natural birth, but ultimately it is the destination and not the journey that counts, as a friend said to me :) Hope all goes well and look forward to hearing the news of your little girl's arrival. Pingu, ahh that is good news that they call you when the heel prick results are in. I didn't want to use a Pead at City and was just going to go one time for the results and initial checks for baby. I plan on using the peadiatrician at Motor City (Dr. Omaima Ataya). I take my DS to her and she is great, plus I get direct billing there with my insurance! Oh and yes, we have the birth notification already. The hospital called us three days after I was discharged to come and collect it.

Oh twinsmum, sorry to hear it may have to be a c-section for you as you really wanted the vbac but just concentrate on getting that baby out safely now and you will be meeting your little girl in a matter of hours! We will all be thinking of you, and dragonmart is a good choice, good luck you never know!!! Redleaf, yes that's what they told us! They said 2 weeks to get the heel prick results and that they would call when ready as with the hospital birth certificate too ( have you received that yet?). I will wait for the call then before I go and as for the free baby clinic in Motor City oohs that sounds good just for a little check up to make sure my little man is gaining weight! Thanks for that :) May go on Sunday he'll be a little over a week just to check :) Thank you:) Then to find a good paed, and apply for the healthcard I think.... If anyone has advice on the paperwork. Tink it's just passports and tenancy contract, do we need birth certificate?

hi all and congratulations Pingu! Well I'm still here :-( Been having contractions every 10 minutes pretty much since Saturday so went to the Dr yesterday full of hope only to discover that my cervix is still firmly closed. What with my hormones all over the place I broke down in tears in her office...not my finest moment. Looks like my VBAC dreams are rapidly disappearing. Csection is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 8am so one way or another I will be holding my little girl by this time tomorrow :-) The Dr suggested I go for a long walk to see if we can get those contractions to move along so DH and I are headed to Dragonmart! I did get to ask all the questions about things that had bothered me last time in the CS so feeling a bit more comfortable about it now. Also had a chat with the big kids last night about what will happen this week and they seem to be totally cool with it all so clearly I was worried unnecessarily! So counting down the last 24 hours...can't believe I'm nearly 41 weeks, I was so sure it would be early. Anyway best of luck to anyone else still waiting and would definitely be up for a march mums meet up :-)

Hi Pingu Huge congratulations to you and welcome to your little man! I was totally about to post the same sort of question. I delivered at City too and the pediatrician who came to check the baby said something about coming back in two weeks for a check and to get the results of the heel prick test, which took about that long to come back from the US lab. I honestly can't remember though, if it was 2 weeks, 3 weeks or what! I will call them today and find out. I don't want to go if the test results aren't there yet. In the meantime, I have taken my little miss to the free Well Baby Clinic at the Medicentre at Motor City. They have them on Sunday and Wednesday mornings from 10 -12 and the midwife is lovely. I am going again this Wednesday as my one will be just over 2 weeks. She hadn't gained any weight last week, so am hoping she has put some one this time around!

Just wanted to ask to the ladies who have had their babies - when are we supposed to go to the clinic for first weigh in? Is it more or less at 2 weeks? Anyone near Mirdif know a baby clinic in the area? :) Or if I wanted to go the Government clinics how do I do it? Start at Al Wasl ( Latifa ) and apply for the card there is that right? edited by Pingu on 26/03/2012

We home :) Sorry for the late update ( thanks Aussiepup for letting everyone know) but my wifi didn't work in hospital :( All went really well and I am so blessed to have my little man! C-section was so quick and he was out before I knew it weighing a tiny 2.76kg and 49cm. He got to stay with me the entire time which was so special as my DD had to go into an incubator with her birth. Dr Elsa was fabulous as always!! :) We could have had a complication but she was so on the ball that it all went really smoothly! Breastfeeding is going well, my little man thinks that the day is night though so we have to try work on that lol!! Otherwise We are so happy!! Good luck to the other March mums! Was great to meet you Aussiepup thanks for popping in and a get together for the March mums still sounds great to me :)

Pingu's little man is just divine! Congrats again! Happened to meet her at city today whilst we were there awaiting jaundice a results. My DS wasn't far off being admitted again yesterday becauseof it and it has meant trips yesterday and today and Monday back to city to have bloods done. Blah! Yes anyway, pings little man is gorgeous as is his big sister. Lovely to meet you today pingu and hope doc sends you home tomorrow but be sure to rest up and take it easy!!! All the best nimonemo and twinsmum looking fwd to hearing your news. Oh dear Tanya hard work the 24/7 thing hey!? DS suffers mostly from wind from 1.30 feed so I sit upright in bed holding him too. Yoou should see the bags forming under my eyes from not sleping properly! I hope she improves for you. DS is such a lazy feeder and won't latch, I'm expressing and feeding him by bottle but even that has been a challenge at times (have tried 3 dif bottles in one feed yesterday). Even then, the next feed he might not re-take from same bottle. Grrr. Cheeky monkey (hence the reason for him being jaundice too lazy rascal). Seeing dr Delphine at motor city tomorrow for a lactation appointment, Saw her Wednesday and have to say she was brilliant so highly recommend her if anyone else having trouble. Heres hoping I can boost my supply and get DS to latch. Sleep time! Nite. edited by AussiePup on 24/03/2012

Can't wait to hear news from Pingu, Nimonemo and twinsmum!!! I hope everyone is doing okay. All is going okay with us, poor DD is getting some quite bad reflux, so I am basically holding her 24/7 to reduce the symptoms, which is helping her a bit. Anyway, can't wait to hear more news!

All the best for tomorrow pingu! I hope your lil miss decides to make the entrance on her own twinsmum but all the best if she doesn't. You too nimonemo. Found out today DS2 had tongue tie, feeding has been soooo painful. Dr snipped it today and the feeds afterwards no pain!! Just wish the little rascal would actually feed, he is so lazy!

Yep, still waiting but my due date in on Mach the 29th. I am following with interest all your comments, congratulations to all the new mummies, I am so jealous! I am so uncomfortable that I cannot even walk properly. Anyway, I guess we need to be patient, I was hoping baby will come early but it does not look like... Every night dreaming with contractions (I have already had some or that's what I think...). Good luck everybody and we need to be patient!

Congratulations AussiePup :-) I'm still here...40 weeks on thursday and lil Miss just doesn't seem to want to join us. I am sooooo fed up. Had a sweep on Sunday (that was, um, different) but the lazy bu55er still not budging. Have my final appointment on Sunday and if she hasn't turned up by then it will have to be a CS...was really hoping for a VBAC and will be really disappointed if I don't get to experience it as this is definitely my last one. Mind you at this point I just want to meet my baby and not be pregnant any more! Anyone else still waiting?

Hi CitronKB, I'm in the same boat as you so researched it all lol. City has the DU Wifi so you can either buy the DU wifi cards (which I have done, all ready to use - you register and put in a pin every time you want to use its about 50aed for 10 hours or something) or if you have a DU phone you can use that number and it will be charged to your account. Hope this makes sense, just let me know if not! Thanks Pingu will investigate Du wifi card as Im on Etisalat account not Du with my phone.
