Emirates have just offered me an upgrade to business class UK - DXB for an extra £290. What would you do?

Well i will be interested in up and coming threads on EK's Biz from those who have normally travelled biz class, having just travelled back biz from the UK and experienced the "new changes". Was it worth it, nope, well below EK's normal biz standard, cut backs all round and noted. The best thing about biz is the lounges, thank goodness they have yet to cut back on quality in those! Top tip, make sure you eat and drink in the lounge!

That price is great! Why didn't they offer me the same on our way home just now? I had the flight from Hades :(. Seriously, it normally costs around $1500 one way if you pay to upgrade onboard (from what I remember) so you got a brilliant deal there. I had problems checking in too, and got nothing like an upgrade. More like crammed in a middle seat with a large baby bump and a large one-year-old. Luckily DS barfed on the guy next to us who then decided to move seats :D.

I'd do it esp if it's an A380. Remember to book your chauffeur drive cars at both ends (assuming you are within 70 miles of the London airport otherwise there's a surcharge) and visit the lounge in London - they are both very good. Your only problem is going to be returning to economy next time assuming you have a decent crew and lie-flat seats on this flight. Enjoy!

I'd take it and here's why.....I flew back to the UK with Emirates & was put in first class complimentary as they had problems checking me in with my doctors letter (7 months pregnant & alone). It turned out that the chap who sat next to me in 1st upgraded from economy to business but they put him in 1st as there were no available seats in business class. Not saying this would happen but you never know! Just a shame i couldn't take advantage of the free flowing champers! edited by Mollydxb on 07/07/2011

Treat yourself. Turn up early, use the lounges both ends, pick up all the freebies and make the most of it ;)

Depends how well you travel-it is quite a short flight and I would sleep all the way anyway-so I personally wouldn't bother-save the money for shops and restaurants

If it was in my budget I would do it. I upgraded to business for my flight back to Australia and it was well worth it.
