Hi Ladies, just a question...What helped you with getting pregnant when you have PCOS ( insulin resistant?)
I have 1 lo but to conceive I was put on Avandia and Chlomid and Metformin..But I have just read that the Avandia is being taken off the market because it is so dangerous. And now having a child I really don't want to take that risk!!!! And Metformin doesn't agree with me at all....What next????

My Dr put me on Metformin (Glucophage) with a dose of 500mg in the morning and 1000mg at night. Taking the later dose before I went to bed really helped me. But I only had side effects for about 4 days (runs and nausea) and then it stopped. Also I started on 500mg, waited until I was used to it and then went up another 500mg and then another - apparently its better to do that than take the full whack immediately. I was on it for 3 months and got pg in the 3rd month. I am now on my 2nd month of it again for baby no.2 :) There is a slow release version of Glucophage, maybe its worth trying that?? If not then the other suggestion about the inofolic sounds worth a try? Good luck

Thank you so much for your replies. I have tried the Glucophage but to be successful I should take 3 tablets but even on half a tablet a day I had really bad stomach problems so my docs sid there is no point.....I am eating kind of healthy-maybe I need to put more effort into that!!! On my next appointment I will talk to my doc if it is poss to get those tablets here and if I could take them...Of course I would never take anything without talking to my doctor! I have my lo to think about! Thank you again for the posts!

I already mentioned it briefly some time ago but it might have gone lost: in Italy the latest therapy is with Inofolic and Inofolic Plus, with specific doses of folic acid, inositol and melatonin (in the Plus version). It is undergoing International scientific benchmarks right now but many doctors are already prescribing it with excellent results, alone or in conjunction with the other standard therapies. I don't think it is sold elsewhere under this name, I do not know, but for a doctor it should not be difficult to prescribe an equivalent amount of integrators to mix with the corresponding dosage, even if the advantage of Inofolic is that it is extremely pure and easily absorbed. I was on the pill for years since teenagehood for PCOS and even had an emergency surgery for ovarian cysts and related complications years ago. Then I switched to Inofolic and everything disappeared, doctors would not even believe my PCOS background if I had not my old medical records (... and irsutism :(). I stopped it eventually in Dubai, but anyway I got pregnant naturally three times in one year at 40 years old (and I also have a pretty complicated medical history for other reasons). Ok, first two pregnancies did not end well, but this is another story. So this is my experience, if it is of any help. Try and ask your doctor. Please don't buy and mix the integrators on your own.
