Hi everyone,
I am asking this question for my friend. Sheis 6 weeks pregnant and we couldnot choose which hospital is good in Dubai. Please help

what are your experiences about Medcare, City or American hospitals??
One more option is Zulekha hospital, we went to Zulekha for the first appoinment and it seems ok.
and the thing is we have to pay cos insurance not covering maternity.

I delivered at Welcare Hosp 9 days ago, even thou my angel did not make it-I would not wrong them in anything. The care I received was excellent. Just to add re their NICU-I discovered that it is actually bigger (16 bed) and more equipped than City, not saying City is not excellent (shellly) but I requested to be shifted to City and was advised I'm better off at Welcare in terms of of my baby's weight and term! edited by forever 21 on 26/01/2011 forever 21 I saw your posts and wanted to say I am in awe of your strength and fortitude. All the very best to you and your family. Also, to second what you say - the provision for complications at Welcare is excellent. NICU there is state of the art to say nothing of the expertise of the staff and the drs and nurses in the labour ward were fantastic at preparing me for the fact that my DD would need to be in NICU a long time - I would imagine great in 'normal' delivery but particularly kind and skilled when it is not the case. I cannot fault them. edited by Muzza1 on 26/01/2011 edited by Muzza1 on 26/01/2011

For starters, ask your friend to get a doula! Doulas are amazing birth support women.. so highly recommended! I had my first at Medcare. The doctor was great, but i wasnt happy with the hospital. They hardly followed my birth plan. Plus when it was time for me to push, they threatened me with a c-section if i dint push and i pushed so hard that i tore really bad and had the worst time getting healed. And on top of that got infected. Not a happy ending there. Plus i hear that they routinely break your waters at 4cm whther u like it or not now. Oh and their lactation consultant was fabulous! Very nice lady :) I am with City Hospital now. Doctor is great. Excellent reveiws! Hoping for the best! Can tell u more of my experience next month.

I delivered at City in April and was very happy, I would definitely recommend it. The best thing to do is to go for tours and talk to the midwives so you can get a feel for the place.

I delivered at American Hospital in November and was very happy with the service and care. The midwifes offered lots of encouragement as it was a long labour. My doctor (Dr Braithwaite) was great and kept everything calm when the baby got distressed.

Forever 21-I am so sorry for your loss. Merydubai-call daman health as they cover maternity with a 6 month waiting period. If you get their UAE plan or regional plan maternity package it will cost less than paying for everything yourself. Delivery is covered after 6 months on their plan and your antenatal appoints are covered (at 100%) as soon as you start coverage. Hope this helps.

I delivered at International Modern Hosp. in Mankhool, Dubai. Had a lovely experience and they saved my babies life by detecting a deadly congenital heart defect we didnt know she had! Their Maternity package is very reasonably priced and the hosp is small and quiet. i gave birth to DD there too!!!

Hi im currently 21 weeks pregnant, and im at madcare, my insureance does not cover me either so we have to pay for it ourselves. but they offer a package, at 12 weeks you can take the package out(it costs 5000 dhs) and all your DR app wil be covered in the package as well as blood tests and scans. so far im only seeing my OBGYN once every 4 weeks but as the pregnancy progresses, I will see her every 2 weeks. the delivery suite there is really nice, and again for the birth you can take out another package for the delivery. I think for a normal delivery its 8500dhs, and that covers the delivery, hospital stay and some bits and pieces you may use. so far I am happy with Medcare. if you do a search on the hospitals you want to know about, you will find a lot of informative information about hospitals. I guess it depends on person to person. Good luck and if you need any more help. let us know

You will hear good and bad about all these hospitals. I delivered at City and they were brilliant. Friends have delivered at American and were also very happy. I personally would steer clear of Medcare but thats just my personal opinion as I had an extremely horrible experience there, but again, everyone has different opinions and experiences. City have a brilliant NICU so that to me would be a huge plus as you just never know IF your baby may need it. Good luck to your friend with her decision!
