Hi ladies,

I am 7 weeks pregnant and tying to decide on an obs/gyn to use. My insurance company will cover me in MedCare or City Hospital. So I am looking for opinions on which is better. We will be first time parents so lots to consider. I see some of you have mentioned on other threads that you have used an obs / gyn from one hospital or clinic but delivered in another? How does this work? All opinions would be great - good or bad! Thanks.

Thanks for all the advice ladies. So far we are still with Medcare ( I am now 26weeks). All has been fine and i personally really like my doctor Dr Azza Gouda, she is very friendly, fun and very much to the point! I have had a couple of frutrations like appointments running a little late but i guess this is normal every where. Otherwise, i have had no negative reports lets hope it stays that way!! Thanks again... edited by Norts on 24/04/2012

I had very negative experiences with Medcare when I was having fertility tests so from my experience, City. But you'll get good and bad reviews of both, so it might be an idea to visit both and see which you're more comfortable with.

NO Medcare, dont even go there! Horror stories, plus ob-gyn are so old fashioned and behind.

City vs Medcare - City wins hands down, in my opinion. All the Ob/Gyns at City are very professional and all come highly recommended.

I had a fabulous experience at City Hospital and saw Dr. Ibrahim there who is a wonderful professional and I would gladly go back to him in future.

Oh and just fyi, my first was delivered at medcare and second at city.. i wud definitely do my 3rd inshalla with city, or whereever dr elsa is.. wudnt think twice abt that. edited by shaf on 28/12/2011

Hi Norts I met a few doctors before deciding on Dr. Grace Jacob at City- she also has hours at the dubai mall medical clinic which is a sister clinic of City so all reports are on the same system. We are also first time parents and i felt Dr. Grace was the only one who didnt treat us like a number!

I'm seeing Dr. Helena Taylor at the Dr. Suliman Al Habib Clinic which is right across from City Hospital. She delivers at City Hospital but has her office out of the private clinic. She's a lovely woman who always has lots of time for me during our appointments and so far I haven't been kept waiting either. I had read more about City Hospital so that's how I decided to go there and I like that they have midwives working there too. Good luck and congratulations!
