apparently rashes on my stomach in third trimester might be due to liver condition which leads to premature delievery. my ob-gynae has suggested that i should go back to home country rather than here as NICU's are very expensive if the need arises....(i am keeping my fingers crossed for that situation should not come) since i am already 28 weeks so i have to travel by the end of feb. don't want to leave my hubby here for 4 months :(
how did you ladies cope up with leaving DH here....i really don't want to go. i know i will be a crying baby there feeling sad and depressed all the time. sorry for writing all this but i have been crying since yesterday, i know not good for baby but my tears are not stopping...probably pregnancy hormones.

Shingles is the adult form of the chicken pox virus. But instead of it popping out all over your body, it usually localizes itself in one area. My friend had it on her torso. I would hope they would have thought about that, but then again, I don't know how common it is here in this part of the world. In America, there seem to be so many cases of shingles that they (surprise) created a vaccine for it.

@ presam: i was talking about India. even with the express service it took them 25 days for the passport only. another 10 days for visa. do not worry, the process is quite fast and straight forward here. You have to ask each and every question very precisely to the insurance company. They might not cover baby if born outside UAE and then there might be a fixed number of days within which you have to apply for reimbursement. Like, in our case it was within 60 days of the discharge of the baby from hospital. Look at all the perspectives before deciding on further, if you feel so strongly of being here with DH. Make sure you and your DH's passport have each other's name in it.My DH did not have my name and we got it done in my 9th month. (And even that is not a long process). And like I said before things are pretty fast here as compared to India. All the best!

cp80: it happened with my friend but as it happened his baby's passport and visa took 25 days (home country) so no expenses were covered and neither reimbursed. but still i'll ask hubby to confirm from insurance company. so far my liver function tests are normal just waiting for bile acids now...even the rashes are not angry red any more.although they are still inflammed. even my nausea has returned. hope baby comes out normally. @sobevan: i'll look into shingles...by the way what is that?? :) do you mean it took 25 days here or in home country? My DS was born here in july 2010 and it took us 2-3 days to get passport once we got the BD done ( which was couple of days as well) and just 2 days for visa ( done by DH's company) so in all a week. I am talking about Indian passport, it's pretty fast here as compared to India ( as i am guessing you are Indian too).

Yes, hopefully this scare turns out to be just a false alarm and all goes well. Regarding new papers for the baby, I think the passport and visa is much quicker now. Not more than a week. But lets hope you dont need to worry about it all. Wish you all the very best for a healthy and safe dlivery.

I'm not a doctor, but my friend had something similar - turned out to be shingles. Have they ruled that out at all? I don't think it was anything harmful to the baby. Stay positive! Hope you figure it out soon.

thank you everybody...just woke up after crying myself into sleep. @dubaicat , nougatnes: i do hope that after 10 days my blood test result is normal. @presam, cp80: i have metlife Alico provided by the DH's company and they don't even reimburse!! lately they hve become a pain in the *** even for buying meds approval has to be taken first.. Hi Manu I really hope your rashes are nothing more than a skin irritation and will get resolved on its won and you go on to deliver a full term baby. Regarding your insurance however, since your husband seems to have family cover, they should include the baby in his insurance once he/she is born and the paperwork like passport/visa is ready - and then baby will be automatically covered for all expenses, correct? Has someone faced a situation where the insurance company has refused to cover the baby even though the primary policy holder has family cover? Ladies, please advise. edited by cp80 on 01/02/2012

Same as Dubaicat - I had welts and rash all over my trunk - Drs and family at home were bricking it about liver, it wasn't - it was just a hormonal thing that cleared up (thank God!) as soon as I delivered. Good Luck

Definitely get a second opinion before you make any decisions. I had a terribly itchy rash on my stomach in my third trimester and it wasn't the liver condition although that was the doctor's first concern.

manu check if the expenses are reimbursed once baby is here and his insurance papers are done! nothing related to baby was covered in my insurance. But we had 100% reimbursement of all the baby expenses once the papers and insurance was done. That was good enough for us and i decided to deliver here. I know what u mean without being DH around. Check with your insurance company, Hope things work out the way you want! ETA: with papers i mean birth certificate and passport, and that took us just 3-4 days once we were discharged. edited by presam12 on 30/01/2012

manubhaduria, which insurance have you got? I have ADNIC, and am a high risk case and may need nicu. If that happens (god forbid), my insurance will cover the babies as long as am in the hospital. Once am discharged, I need to get new insurance policies for the babies and they will be covered under them. Have you checked about this possibility wih your insurance company? Also, my husband"s ofc provides family coverage (although he doesnt have maternity). Once babies are born, he can include them under his cover, isn't it? Am constantly worried about the nicu possibility but will be staying here rather than travelling home for so many reasons; one of them which you have mentioned.

Well, being apart from your husband is only one of the sacrifices and miseries you'll experience as a mom, so I guess it's good to get used to it now ... not to say that mommyhood isn't great - love it very much - but a few months separation from your husband isn't as bad as it can get!

got a second opinion...same as first! my insurance does not cover NICU and Al Wasl said that they don't take after 26 weeks.
