Hi Ladies!

Due to an unexpected delay in my Visa being transferred onto my husband's, looks like I get to enjoy the pleasures of a visa run! Has anything changed recently? Have heard you cant do the Hatta run anymore, so thinkin of hopping on a flight to Doha instead. If you get off the flight then straight onto the next one back, can this cause problems or is this ok?

Any info hugely appreciated!
Thanks! xx

I originally got Joseph's details from this forum but he has been in India for several months so some of you may not be aware of him or may have been trying to get hold of him. Basically, Joseph is an excellent taxi driver who is happy to do visa runs. He used to live in Oman and is familiar with every step of the process. He speaks good English and is punctual. If you are stressed about doing a border run, do call him on 050 676 1218 and he will help you through every step. He charges 550 dirhams so it is good if you can get a couple of others to share, now that the price in Oman has gone up to 200!

Just did a visa run at the Mezzyad border post in AL Ain today. Was so simple and quick Just half an hour from going in to coming out. Cost 35dhs to go out and 200 dhs in Oman. Friendly service too. No problem asking for an entry and exit stamp.

Just did a visa run and thought I'd give some info. I went with 2 UAE residents, who did not have their passports - the ID card actually worked fine for them (but we did tell the border guards that only I would be needing to do the visa run) - and on that note, telling the guards what youre doing is fine in fact they all asked if i was going to do a visa run and actually gave me directions. Granted I was speaking Arabic but I'm sure they would do the same for non-arabic speakers. After getting my exit stamp, we drove to the Oman border, pulled into the carpark (there is a sign that says 'new visas') and went in, filled out a form for an Omani visit visa (which cost 20 riyals ~ 200 AED) and they stamped me in and out of Oman then and there without the need to actually enter the country. We then took the alternative exit out the carpark opposite to where we came in so that we did not have to cross the border (as my brother and his gf did not have passports) We then stopped at the UAE border control, parked the car and obtained the UAE entry stamp. All was very, very easy. Just want to add that there were DEFINITELY people who did not bother going all the way to the Omani border and paying for a visit visa there. After getting their exit stamp, they drove up a tiny bit past a checkpoint, parked on the side of the road, crossed it and walked into the UAE border control area to get a stamp. I cant say for sure if they received the new visa or not as I didn't know them, just adding for observation. You can always try and if they refuse, the drive to the border is not far! edited by 0rulz0 on 04/02/2011

I have to do one in the next 4 days (STILL waiting on s*dding start date for new job!!!!). A mate of mine did one 2 weeks ago and had no hassles at Hatta apart from the fact they forgot to stamp her exit from Oman so she had to go back and queue again.....! I have to go on my own and not looking forward to it :-(

Ok, now im really confused!! Just spoke to my old HR dept - they have said that if i do the Hatta run, i wont get an Exit Stamp, and that i'l only get that if i fly. Does anyone have the vaguest idea what on earth they're talking about?? Would get more sense out of a rock than from them!!!

Altho, just thought - my old company still have my passport and are saying their PRO will meet me at the airport with my passport so they can get papers signed and stamped to say that i'v exited. not sure how that would work if i went to Hatta!

Thanks Millar - didnt realise we could still use Hatta. Do you go in then straight out again, or do you have to wait around for a while first?
