Thanks ladies, I went ahead and tried to book online but it stated thag for the itinerary I had to also be travelling. So I will cneck out Expedia, but if not just transfer the money to her account and help her book online.
I went through exactly this last week with Emirates and, as ishehere said, it's dependant on the which country you're flying from. Somewhere hidden in their FAQs it says that if whilst you're entering your CC details online and you can enter your own name in the drop-down box for the cardholder's name, then you're okay to go ahead (as opposed to the traveller's name being automatically entered there from the ticketing details and you not being able to change it - if that makes sense?). I ended up phoning Emirates ticketing anyway, told them the story, and she confirmed that I could pay online for someone else travelling from NZ.
You can purchase a ticket with emirates but you need to go to their office, you cannot do it online. My DH has done it a few times. I can't remember exactly what information he needed but, to be on the safe side take passport number, name, dob etc..
Haven't done it with Emirates but have with other airlines, usually get asked on payment page if the person paying is the passenger and follow the prompts
You could book with Expedia or Opodo for someone else as I did that for MIL. But here's what Emirates say: http://www.emirates.com/english/help/faqs/FAQDetails.aspx?faqCategory=414398#faq2
I would go to an Emirates office and book there and check with them. I think online it's not possible as she would need your credit card. I think there is one in a center on beach road.
I am sure I saw the same ? a while ago, but can't for the life of me find it, so apologies for repeating.
Basically I want to buy a ticket online for my MIL who will fly from London to DXB.
Checked the emirates site and it isn't clear until you start to enter payment details.
Anyone know? TIA
