Hi Ladies

I just wanted to find out from those of you that have had babies recently about proving you are actually married. I know its against the law in the UAE to have a baby out of wedlock. I'm 21 weeks now and have seen my obgyn since 4 weeks. at my first appointment she asked my if we were married(which we are) but did not ask to see our wedding certificate. now what happens when i go into labour? do i take our wedding certificate with us in order for the hospital to allow me to deliver there? how does that all work? We are planning on having the baby at Medcare.

help please because I'm clueless and although I still have time, I want to sort it asap so I'm not stressed about it at the last minute.

TIA

Gave birth in December at Medcare and they never asked if we were married or for our marriage certificate.

Recently gave birth at City hospital and was only asked for the paperwork in order to receive the Birth Notifiation which is issued by the hospital otherwise it was never mentioned.

I gave birth at American Hospital 8 weeks ago and was never asked for my marriage cert or for our passports. As DH and I have different surnames, I had passport copies and our marriage cert packed in my hospital bag but neither were required.

I know they ask for proof, but am not so sure if its just the passport that has your spouse's name printed on it or a marriage certificate that is attested by UAE authorities. It would be best to ask your practitioner on your next visit.
