I'm flying to London tomorrow afternoon (yay!) and I remember when I was returning from there, they made me and other passengers remove things like lipstick and hand creams / lotions from our purses and have them checked, the same as our carry on bags etc.

They gave them back to us, but I now you can only have a minute amount of any of this. I would like to bush my teeth during the flight :\: and the thought just hit me. What if I can't take toothpaste with me? I know it probably sounds clueless, but I'm hoping I can.

I don't really feel like trolling through the net to find out, because rules can be different in different places and can be subjective. Oh, the dreaded toothpaste monster.

shazman, that's what I'm worried about. It's a big tube with only a bit left in it. I'll just play it safe and pick up a travel size toothpaste today. Yes you are better off taking travel size, I argued with the security bloke about the fact there was literally just enough for one teeth clean, even though he agreed but on the tube it stated 125ml and that tube was too big regardless of the amount left in the tube.

Make sure the tube itself is less than 100ml, they will take it off you if it is a big tube of paste even if it is obvious there is only a tiny squeeze left in it.

No worries at all. As long as any liquid/cream you have does not exceed the 100ml per item and 10 items total (max 1000ml), you can carry them on board. Just keep them all in a ziploc bag as some airports are more stringent than others. Worse case scenario, you can always ask the flight attendants if they have extra toothpaste on board :) edited by Saharagypsyrose on 13/04/2011

Yes, as CP says, as long as each individual item/cream etc isn't more than 100ml each. You can carry up to 1000ml total as long as no one item exceeds 100ml. Leaving Dubai recently we didn't even have to remove liquids from carry-on bags although I imagine you will in London.

As long as the tube is less than 100ml, I think that rule still stands.
