I used to suffer very bad migraines and nothing could touch it...I now take a low dose antiepilepsy med - Topamax 25 every night - and have not had a full on attack for nearly 1 and a half years...and no side effects.

I would personally not recommend any kind of tablets for migraine relief. I have consulted so many doctors and done so many research and came out to the conclusion that so many believe that tablets make the migraine worse not better and it has other long term side effects on the brain. There are so many ways to relieve the migraine naturally and it varies from one person to person. But for myself, it has proven great to sit in a dark room, avoid fried foods and high sounds and try to sleep for a little time. You should wake up without it. I never took any pill.

fullofdreams - if he is getting them more and more regularly you might suggest going to the doctor or hospital to get it checked out!

Smells - I was getting really bad upper shoulder/neck pain as well as a general tiredness everytime I took Imigran - the migraine went but the shoulder/neck pain and tiredness would last for hours ! The pharmacist recommended Naramig and it was cheaper as well - now migraine gone within 20 mins and no side effects.

Imigran nasal spray is the best for me as I vomit with my migraines and can't keep anything down so the nasal spray really helps. Not that nice a taste at first down the back of the throat but does not take too long to kick in. Julieanneb just wondering what side effects you received from it?

I use imigrane as well - just remember only 1 tablet per migraine episode. People can find them very strong, so voltaren tablets can work for some people as well. If he isn't a regular migraine sufferer, I would start with something less agressive (such as voltaren) and work up to imigrane if needed - Just my opinion. Hope he is feeling better soon.

Totally agree with you both, Imigrain is the best over the counter, took one myself at lunch and feel loads better now! Yorkshire Pud, if you can stock up on maxalt in the UK before you leave that is worth doing, as they are the best, but you can't get them over here anymore! Oooh never heard of these. Luckily, I don't suffer migraine anymore. I found the trigger - Wetherspoons doing gin and tonic for £1.25! Turns out my body doesn't agree with gin :D

I take Sumatriptin for migraines, which is sold under the brandname Imigran. You can buy these over the counter now although initially they were only available on prescription; they are 60 dhs for two tablets, but one tablet is usually effective and works in about half an hour to an hour. These tablets changed my life as prefiously these attacks would last a few days. Great minds! And totally agree they are miracle workers!!

If its a proper proper migraine, get Sumitriptan Succinate (Imigran) The Dr prescribed these to me in england and they are the only thing that could shift my hurrendous headaches. They do offer them over the counter in England now but you have to have, what I can only describe as, an interview by the chemist. So I would think they will be available in DUbai. Hope he feelsbetter soon
