I have got loads of stuff accumulating in my house that needs to get out. Am thinking of either putting up stuff on Dubizzle or doing a garage sale.
I am just wondering, would garage sale will be worth the effort. I have basically got old baby pram, cot, toys, lots of hardly used baby clothes, adult clothes, and small electronics and kitchen items as well. I think my target would be the maids and gardeners in the surrounding houses.
What are your experiences with garage sales? Have you done one or been to one? How do I market if my target is the maids? Any advice will be appreciated

why does nobody think of charity anymore? I (personally) go that path, at least we know the needy get it.. but good luck with the garage sale

I've done a few in my time and its mainly maids and Gardeners, so definitly dont sell anything of value as they will either not buy it, or try to get it for 1dh! They do however love shoes, clothes, electronics, kitchen items. I would definitly sell the cots and prams on dubizzle (if they are in good condition) Also beware of small things like jewelery going missing. :)

Hi, I did one last weekend in the ranches from 8.30 - 11.30, I advertised at Le Marche supermarket and then told all my friends maids and all the maids at the park and the message soon gets around. I didn't price anything, people just gathered piles and then I told them what it is for the lot....obviously looking for supercheap so if you have anything of value then probably Dubizzle would be more the place for it. If I was doing it again, I would do it from 8.30 - 10 as everyone comes early and then was very quiet. My customers were all gardeners, maids and men looking for electronics. Its a great way to get rid of stuff but you won't make your millions....Good luck

We did one a couple of years ago and it was crazy - the grape vine on the maid/gardener network is the way to go, and it probably depends a bit on where you live. We are in The Lakes and they attract people from all over the place!

Was out early last friday morn and stumbled across 2 garage sales locally to me and the maids/gardeners were going at it hammer and tong wanting everything for 5aed and causing chaos. If this is who you want to attract then put up a few posters locally and let the fun begin.
