49M&Ms
why are you being so rude and dificult and saying you dont need opinions......when some of us know facts
The MOL has NOTHING.....that is N O T H I N G, to do with domestic visas etc. Did you hear me? THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH MAIDS.
I can tell you now, even if she is married a MAID, yes, MAID, or servant as their visa states is not NOT N O T allowed to have a baby here. They do not have rights, and no medical facilities for MAIDS to have babies.
phew, this is hard work.
You also have to pay AED 2000 as a refundable deposit, you will get it back once you cancel her residency & send her back home. They started to take this deposit 2 years back xx
Legally, yes you can hire a pregnant maid (obviously providing she is married). It is your decision when you receive the results of the medical as to whether you continue your sponsorship in this event. Whereas, if she tested positive for TB, leprosy, HIV etc, you would have no choice, she would be deported. Just also a note, she will not be able to undertake the test for TB because it is an x-ray, so knowing she is pregnant prior, you 'might' be faced with some objection - but it will depend on who you get on the day. I was pregnant when mine was processed, and had to return 3 months after giving birth for the x-ray - however, I am not classed as a domestic (depending on who you talk to - hehehe) So, if you do this, it is an extremely unusual situation, and I suspect there will be a few hiccups with the medical team not knowing how to deal with it, and knowing the way things work here sometimes, they 'could' just say no.
The thing I would be checking from your perspective (risk wise - financially) is that the medical insurance policy covers her for pregnancy - particularly for any costs in relation to complications arising from an early birth should that happen (daily neo-natal costs are extremely expensive) - Just remembering a number of insurance providers here don't cover these costs, and these would be your liability being her sponsor if anything did go wrong and she wasn't covered. I would be very surprised if the health insurance companies used for domestic staff will actually cover this over here, but you will only know this by calling the different providers and checking this. Someone may know on here, but again, I would be surprised if anyone has experience with this, so it is best to check before starting the process as getting the medical insurance is one of the final steps completed.
Also, I am sure you have actually cited the marriage certificate, but just make sure if you take this with you as proof also.
Good luck.
Even if she is married, she lives in Dubai with her husband, and the Sponsor is aware of pregnancy?
Can you please provide me with a link that states this, as I can not find anything on the MoL to that effect, and can't seem to get an answer on the phone either!
Honestly, I don't know. I just know that my maid had to take a pregnancy test for her visa and she would have been denied had she tested positive. I think you would have a lot of explaining to do to the visa people and I'm just warning you because it costs a few hundred dirhams to do the medical tests.
49M&Ms, I am not giving you my opinion. This is just information. A maid must take a pregnancy test to complete the visa procedure. If she tests positive, she will not be able to be sponsored.
I would not say that informing you that maids are not allowed to be pregnant is an opinion,
she was offering you advice. Which you clearly need.
Anyway, waste you money and find out the hard way. Good maids are easy to find, it is a good employer that is difficult to find, especially one who has experience in running a household with domestic staff.
You cannot sponsor a pregnant maid.
She will not pass the medical.
You are not insured to take care of her in case of early delivery etc.
JFYI there are loads of excellent maids out there. Why one would even contemplate taking on such a responsibility is beyond me.
Hi 49M&Ms
A lot the costs and the procedure is listed here n our handy guide...

HTH
If regulations have not changed recently, the local visa/labour costs/annum for sponsoring a domestic are:
1. medical tests: about AED 600 + incidentals for paperwork
2. medical card (goes instead of insurance): AED 300
3. labour card: (don't remember if that's a separate cost)
4. Goverment tax ([i'>annual[/i'>!) for expats sponsoring a domestic: AED 5,000 (non-refundable)
You may consider that, once she has baby in her life (even though being taken care for in the P) her priorities are changed. From my experience, I would say she may physically be here, mentally a shift will have taken place from total commitment to the job to focus what is happening with baby.
Human, of course, but from the viewpoint of an employer often frustrating/dissatisfying.
