Ok, so I have read every review on here, tripadvisor, other websites etc etc and I have shortlisted 3 hotels for our vacation in PHUKET. I just can't decide so would appreciate all your views on any of these:
JW Marriott (Mai Khao beach)
Katathani Phuket beach resort (Kata Beach)
Laguna Beach Resort (Bang Tao beach)
MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE! ;) I am so confused :(

JW is great very kid and adult friendly. If staying at Mai Khao you can use facilities and dining next door at larger JW Beach Club. Are also two other hotels nearby with restaurants, one walking the other quick cab ride down the road. In Turtle Village next door there is a cafe and supermarket. We have stayed at Sheraton Laguna twice and JW Mai Khao twice and JW Beach Club twice. I prefer JW over the Laguna. Phuket is lovely and you will enjoy it

Hiya, I think it depends on whether you have kids, I understand the jw has great kids facilities but it is remote, as often referenced in the trip advisor reviews. I have stayed at the Banyan Tree and loved it, it is in the Laguna resort. We actually only ate there once in the ten days we were there as we preferred to walk into bang Tao village and eat in the many grat restaurants and bars there instead of paying hotel prices and they had a lot more charm. Plus, there are quite a few hotels aroun all connected by the ferry system so you have lots of choices. I particularly liked the baby elephant who went swimming everynday next to either the dust or sheraton every afternoo plus there was a fantastic beach bar called mimi's kitchen where you could eat and drink all day for about 50dhs!

Love love love Phuket and our fav place is the Laguna. All the hotels there have great facilities, load of activities and its away from the busy centre of the city. You can always get a shuttle to Patong from any hotel that you stay at. I've got time share at the Laguna beach resort that I can gladly rent to you at a much better price offered to you from the hotel. Let me know if you decide with it and if this option is something you will consider.

Marriot is gorgeous a little piece of paradise! Taxis on the resort are cheap and will take you to restaurants.

Thanks Mom*3. I really like the look of JW too, but I read its so far from everything and there arent many restaurants around the resort so eating in the resort and travel into town costs you a arm and a leg! We will probably just want to go into town once or twice. Do you know if its very far and also are there some restaurants we can dine in thats close by to the resort?

JW Marriott, Hands down! We actually go there regularly and are planning to go in the beginning of September. It is a beautiful place! We LOVE it! Good luck!
