For that budget I'd go for a near-new Toyota. Can't beat their re-sale value and Toyotas have hands down the best AC on the market.
Hyundai in Australia is winning best/safest car in many of its classes year after year now. They are definitely not the 'cheap' pieces of nastiness they used to be. The problem with buying Hyundai in Dubai is that the message hasn't reached there yet so resale is rubbish.
The Sportage does pretty well on the NCAP tests: http://www.euroncap.com/results/kia/sportage/2010/414.aspx. The Tucson test was done in 2006 - so can only assume they have improved safety on newer models. http://www.euroncap.com/tests/hyundai_tucson_2006/253.aspx.
Hope this helps!
But arnt the KIA sportage and the hyunduai cheaply made ? That's why the price is so cheap for a small 4x4... I read an article once that in an accident they were useless .
Xtrail is a good car, a friend had one, and it is as good as anything you would get under 80k.
The only problem is the design looks very dated, in fact it is one of the few cars around which was last redesigned more than 6-7 years ago.
The CRV is 100+ and the Rav4 wotn be cheap either
For a budget of 80 i would consider the Hyundaui Tucson and Kia sportage as well, both are quite popular here. A family with a 6 month old we know has the Sportage and likes it
My husband did extensive research and cars like the large Toyotas and Mitsubishis seem to hold their value the best. We couldn't afford what we wanted, so have got second-hand Ford Explorers and are hoping we won't lose too much on the resale.
I've had two brand new peugeout s here for me and my kids love them not had any problems with them what so ever.....use to have a 206cc now have a 308.... only upgraded as 206 cc is not practical ŵhen u have more babies lol.
For a start, dont buy a Peugeot! horrific pieces of %$^$^ they are!
The Toyota Prado/Cruiser/Fortuner/Rav's seem to have a good resale value here as do Pajeros. Cant go wrong with a well branded 4wd and safe and spacious too.
Hi,
We are considering buying a new car that would be big enough for our family (2 babies) and that would be reliable and with a good resale value in Dubai as we might have to sell it within a year or 2. Indeed resale value is really important as there are serious chances that we relocate to europe soon.
My husband, as all husbands, likes to read all magazines and look at technical features :)
I value others' experiences. So can you let me know which cars you recommend and which ones you were disappointed with?
We bought a peugeot 307 last year and absolutely do not recommend it as it seems to have problems adjusting to dubai weather....
Thanks!
