My girls are 8 and 6 and I feel it's inappropriate for their age.
They're not allowed to watch it at all... Am I right or not?

My ds are 11 & 5 and they like Disney XD - especially Zeke & Luther & I'm in the Band. Much better than cartoon network! They also watch the extreme sports channel & discovery. Again, this is only when they're not playing with their lego & transformers or in the pool :)

That's what I'm doing too!! Limiting tv as much as I can. @sue62: the problem with these shows is that when then kids watch them, they try and talk like those kids which really gets on my nerves mine doesn't..he once picked up "butt" from school but i just told him we don't say that and he's never said it again... lol what word do you use then? Not questioning your parenting or anything, just curious! Bum - we're not American !! lol

I absolutely agree that Disney XD is in appropriate for younger kids - I have a 7 and 5 year old and I simply do not like the way the children speak. I have Disney XD on my TV and have successfully hidden this from my children till now!

I detest all those High School programmes and 'attitude' stuff. Mine watch Disney Junior and love it. That or DVDs :) Totally agree

Cartoon Network is horrible, I agree with Sue62 about Zeke and Luther - and it shows kids who have other interests as well (skateboarding, biking). @Green-ish - yes my guys are older than yours. But when mine were small, we were still in Canada and watched CBC shows, there was also YTV and TVO in the morning used to have really good morning shows for kids. Was saddened last weekend when we walked by the Wiggles movie poster - I have no one to go with anymore :-( I was and still am a fan, I think they are great for kids.

I think the same! When my 7 yr old watches some of the programmes she has such attitude and will push it more with hands on hips even my 4 yr old will copy things. We do limit tv but I do find that channel very trash tv. I guess it's trying to get that balance. OMG, I noticed the same thing with my 6 year old! We're massively limiting tv at the moment.

Really?! You think it's a terrible channel??? It's the only channel that my 14, 10 and 8 year old agree on. I don't even mind watching the shows on it. When you compare it to Cartoon Network (full of aggressive, cartoon fighting shows - which I notice my kids used to emulate), I'd much prefer their TV time be spent watching XD. Yes, I think it's terrible. Your children are a lot older than mine though. ;) To be honest, I haven't yet found a channel I'm *happy* to let them watch other than ABC4Kids in Aus. :) If I ever turn the TV on for them, it's usually with a DVD of age appropriate content. Cbeebies... and if you can get it, CBBC (wrangle streaming or download individual programmes). Mine aren't old enough for CBBC, but I love Cbeebies - really, really good, wholesome, interesting and captivating programmes. yes i agree with Cbeebies and CBC - we still watch those.. Cartoon Network has some seriously weird cartoons in my view ...

I think it's good for them to see other kids' lives and shows like Zak n Cody or Zeek and Luther usually have some kind of moral message buried... And his new favourite - Pair of Kings is completely harmless imo..I don't mind watching them myself...

I think nickelodeon is far better for my girls ages. It's much more conservative than the Disney channels

My son is 6 and there's no way I let him watch most of the shows on XD. I agree the content is for older kids (or the cutting room floor!)

The language in some of the sitcoms is a bit aggressive for me :-) Especially the way kids talking to their parents. The crushes between girls and boys all the time too is a bit too early for my girls to handle
