If you are renting in JBR you surely have access to the parking space/s that belongs to the apartment (and has been paid for by the owner at time of purchasing. Why would you have to pay for that separately?
I can understand it in busy clusters, but in my cluster, there are 3 floors of parking, 1 is always empty, and ther is ~10% full, so something like 50 cars in 500 spaces, so would they be charging here as well ? :)
I would imagin them all.

Our Building Manager send me an email to confirm that we have so much cars in the car parks which arent residents and to avoid this for the future there are the barriers. Vistors should park in the created parking spaces infront of the buildings, in Green Lakes there is a small one directly to the street (not up where the entrance of the buildings are).
My husband asked security in our building and this is what they advised -------The barriers are simply there to stop people from driving the "Wrong way" through. My husband looked at the barriers and said ---- they seem to be motion sensor types so they won't be able to police any charges as there won't be an "access card" or anything like that.
We were looking at renting a commercial property there a few months ago and were told that each office unit has one dedicated parking space but a second one would cost 5000AED per year. Surely it must be the same for residential?
A few years back when accomadation was at an absolute premium in Dubai a few of the buildings were charging rent for the parking space. The issue came up a lot and I seem to remember that it was illegal - that one parking space had to be provided per residential unit. Abu Dhabi passed a decree earlier this year stating this - but I am sure it already in the residential laws in Dubai.

Has anybody else heard the rumour of the 5,000aed per year, per space parking fee? We noticed the barrier being installed on Cluster J this week and i have just read it on facebook. There will be a lot of un-happy residents if its true!
