I would also recommend British Orchid. The teachers have vast experience and can predict how you kid will react in certain situations which helps in the settling in period. They also emphasize on overall development like good manners, tying your own shoes, putting things back in place.
This is one of the oldest nursery so all procedures related to cleanliness, changing diapers, food habits etc are very well established.
I second Willow! Great Facilities, caring staff, flexible timings, the owner is so passionate about early education and imparts a very natural ethos into the nursery. Its lovely! there are wait lists though I am told.
English Rose - funny you should mention that about Kensington as it is the only one I have visited so far. The girl said any time was ok on the phone, then when I arrived they had no time for me. :o(
Hi, Our little one has been at British Orchard Nursery in Umm Suqeim since she was 14 months (now 2 1/2). Levels of care are superb, transitioning into great structured pre-school education. The British curriculum is followed if that's of any use (was for us), and whether you need just part time or full time (as we do), they are very accommodating to individual's needs. The Principal and receptionist are very approachable too. You may find there's a waiting list, but one worth waiting for. Our daughter can't wait til Sunday mornings to go back and see her friends and teachers!
We sampled 3 other nurseries in the area, but I'm afraid to say didn't seem quite right, they were either too hung up on showing off their facilities than talking about their educational and social values, or just plain weird (wish I could remember the name so you could avoid). Kensington, even though it looked very nice, seemed too busy to answer questions - they forget we're all new to this! Good luck.
London & Paris Int'l Nursery is very nice, my DS is very happy there, and I am very happy with his development and the staff. It's in Umm Suqueim, on Beach Road, opposite the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. They have another branch in Jumeirah 3, the Royal Beach Nursery. Brand-newly opened,There are no waiting lists for both nurseries, as far as I know.
Very happy with Blossom Nursery. 2 branches: one is couple of streets behind petrol station at top end of Al Wasl (police college end) and the other is nearer Spinneys. Visit a couple of different nurseries and you will get a real feel for which one you feel comfortable with.
Mammacarlucci, I have a very strong suspicion our husbands are future colleagues! :)
We are only moving to Dubai in January so can't share any personal experiences with you but based on a few reviews and recommendations we've so far short-listed three nurseries - Kids' Island, Kids' Cottage and Small World. The first two are in Jumeirah 3 and the last one in Jumeirah 2 so shouldn't be too far away from where you are. Hope this might help a little. Good luck :)
Hi everyone - we have just arrived and are looking for a nursery in the Umm Suqeim area for our 13 month old. Can anyone recommend please? We don't mind going on a waiting list. Cheers, V.
