I'm moving to Marina and the closest biggest supermarket is Choithrams.

Someone told me its expensive and not to shop there.

How much more expensive is it? Because is it really worth me then getting in the car and driving to Carrefour in MOE? Doesn't the cost end up being the same?

Diamante, Is it the new large Choithrams in DEC Tower?. I have been there a few times and it's not too bad. Some of the fresh meat is a bit cheaper than Geant and they seem to have more choice. As for the other 'bulk' items, could be a bit more expensive but like the others have said, nip once a month and stock up on these items in C4. Sometimes they have special offers as well http://www.choithram.com/offers/details.aspx?id=156 Yes, thats the one. Attached to DEC Tower. Thanks all for the tips. Will bear it in mind. Great to know meat is good there though. ;)

We have Choithram's by our building in JBR and I use it a lot. I appreciate that one of the guys will bring your trolley up to your apartment and unload it so no need to struggle with heavy stuff from the car park after you have shopped elsewhere. Well worth a 5 or 10 dhs. tip. Or telephone them and they will deliver. Yes, it may cost a little more for some items but the convenience is great. Their meat is very good too. I will go maybe once a month to Geant in Ibn Batuta which is only a few minutes drive and stock up on washing powder, toilet rolls, etc., but if I can't be bothered, I will just buy it downstairs.

IMO, Choithram's is much more expensive than Carrefour. However, I think it is ok to do your little trips to the supermarket there. I wouldn't go there to buy bulk items like diapers, rice, laundry detergent, etc. But if you just need some milk, you're better off going there as you will spend money on gas and Salik to get to the MOE not to mention the time wasted.

Choithrams is expensive if you do all your shopping there, worth doing a big C4 shop once a month for basics like tins, rice, pasta and household stuff like toilet rolls and washing powder. I do this and supplement with Spinneys as its closer to me and it works out a lot cheaper
